Hot streak likely too little, too late for New York, plus a chart with every team's last 20 record if you're into that sort of thing

The New York Americans have been the hottest team in the VHL of late. Their 8-2-0 record in their last 10 is the best in the league, as is their 14-5-1 record in their last 20. Despite catching fire, the Americans are likely dealing with an instance of too little, too late. Although there are 20 games left in the season for every team in the league, the only team New York could really make headway against was the Toronto Legion, who are now even in points with New York following the Americans outgaining them by 10 points in the last 20. New York remains 9 points out of a playoff spot in the loaded North American Conference, as they've only outgained Vancouver by 3 points, DC by 4 points and Seattle by 5 points in their last 20. Meanwhile, the European Conference's final playoff team, the Malmo Nighthawks, are 4 points behind the Americans and 6 points ahead of Helsinki for their playoff spot. Malmo has played well of late, going 6-2-2 in their last 10, otherwise the gap between the last-one-in from Europe and the first-one-out in North America would be even larger.

For those interested, here's how the last 10 and last 20 numbers look, here they are, sorted by points in last 20:
