After a great run including one cup, the Moscow Menace and Gritty decided to mutually part ways due to impending cap restrictions that unfortunately hit every team as they age. Gritty and Smitty were looking to spend their remaining year together if possible, but it was not necessarily a must. Free agency teams were down to Prague, Davos, and Vancouver. Davos did not have room to sign Smitty as well, though they look like a very fun group of guys. Prague did have room for Smitty and traded for both players rights to start early negotiations. While initial talks were quite fruitful, unfortunately things did not work out when Prague was unable to secure a higher tpe goalie for the upcoming season. This leaves us with Vancouver, which in a way is a fitting way to end Gritty's career. Gritty looks to bring some veteran leadership to Vancouver, as they have lots of rookies and young guys. It is very frustrating not scoring as a rookie, but they better prepare for it, because that is the way of the VHL now.
