Prague Prospect Rankings: #3-4

Last week we highlighted the top two Prague Phantom prospects who have yet to play in the VHL: Woody McPine and Riley Knight Gee. You can find that review here. This week we’ll look at two hulking wingers picked in the fourth round who are plying their trade in the VHLM and developing into late-round steals for the Phantoms.

Jack John, LW @GoadenGoalie35

6' 7" | 196 lbs

Drafted: 4^th Round, 41st Overall (S71)

 

The towering Canadian winger has slowly but steadily been making progress in his development. John set career-highs for goals, assists, points and plus/minus in S71 and contributed a game-winning goal and an assist in the playoffs with Yukon. Entering his third VHLM season and second with the Rush, John will look to continue improving his defensive play and using his big frame more to remain in high-danger scoring areas especially on the power play. He skates well for a big man and has intriguing upside as winger who can contribute in all three zones. There is also a rumor that he has been practicing some special moves for the shootout.

Ernie King, RW @Greg Ernest

6' 5" | 225 lbs

Drafted: 4^th Round, 46th Overall (S72)

 

Despite only playing a half-season with Yukon, the Prague Phantoms liked what they saw from the power forward originally from Finland but who calls Canada home and snagged King with the second-last pick in the draft. He only put up three points in 41 games but King displayed good skating and puck handling skills as well as showing his above-average hockey sense and solid play in his own end. While still very raw, King has a lot of natural ability and could turn out to be a really solid player.
