This is a continuation of my Media Spot from last week found here: Top Goals in One Season. This week we look at the assists this time, rather than goals. These are the guys who set up everyone on the team. These are the guys who are less heralded because they don't get all the glory of the goal scorers. These are your Adam Oates' or your Scott Neidermayer's. These are the great set-up men of the Victory Hockey League.

The most assists in one seasons is a record held by Patrick Bergqvist with 114 assists. Patrick has held this record since Season 20 which is 18 years in the sim life. That is a very long time if you let that sink in, 18 seasons have come and gone. To put in perspective, the most assists somebody had last year (S37) was Connor Low with 79. That is 35 assists off the record for those counting at home. I feel this is one of those records that won't be broken and Patrick Bergqvist's record is here to stay until the end of the Victory Hockey League.

Seasons 1-9

Joey Kendrick in Season 5

From Seasons 1-9, there are 9 players or 36% who made it in the top 25 all-time in assists. The first person to appear on this list is the great Joey Kendrick. He is 2nd on the list with 112 assists which was the original record that stood from Season 5 to Season 20. The next man on the list from the era of Season 1-9 is none other than Scotty Campbell who appears at 5th all-time. In Season 5, he recorded 101 assists which was also 2nd all-time until Season 20 when he fell 2 places to 4th, then again in Season 26 finally stopping at 5th. Next we have Brannan Anthony who recorded 100 assists in Season 7. This was 3rd all-time until the aforementioned Season 20 and 26 happened, and then he fell all the way to 7th all-time. Next on the list is Alexander Beketov. He recorded 97 assists in Season 8 which again at the time was 4th before taking the swan dive to 9th all-time. The next Season 5 alum appears on this list, this players name is Alex McNeil. He recorded 94 assists in Season 5 which was a top 10 placing at the time before he dropped all the way to 15th. Next on the list is the original record holder, the man who put up this number in the VHL's inaugural season. Brett Slobodzian recorded 92 assists in the very first season. This goes to show how much of a great player he was since he is still on this list at 16th all-time, even though he put up those numbers in Season 1, which is 37 sim years ago. The next 3 spots from Season 1-9 are held by 2 players. Scotty Campbell put up 87 assists in Season 4 and 6 while Dust'n Funk matched him is Season 6. These players hold spots 22, 23 and 24.

Seasons 10-19

David Henman in Season 18

There are 6 players or 24% who made it in the top 25 all-time in assists from Seasons 10-19. The first person on this list from that era is David Henman in Season 18. He reached 97 assists which is good enough for 10th all-time. Next on the list is the legendary Kevin Brooks. He is on this list with 96 assists. Interestingly enough, this is the first time we see Kevin on either list despite being 3rd all-time in scoring after his career was finished. Coming in next is Josh Vestiquen who is 13th all-time with 95. The hall of famer was a very good player and is well respected as he comes from the "terry" agency. The next player on this list is also a hall of fame player. Unlike most though, he had to wait a very long time for his induction ceremony but I bet it doesn't make it any less sweeter to hear your name called into the VHL Hall of Fame. This players name is Alexander Sauve. In Season 18, he recorded 92 assists which is good enough for 17th overall. The last person to make this list from the era of 10-19 is Matt Bailey. This is another well respected player as he is from the "Quik" agency. In Season 19, Bailey produced 88 assists.

Seasons 20-29

The Great Patrick Bergqvist

There are 6 players or 24% who made it in the top 25 all-time in assists from Seasons 20-29. Remarkablly, 5 of these players reached this list in Season 20. The first to appear on the list is the recrod holder himself, Patrick Bergqvist. This player comes from "Squintys" agency and was actually the first player to be brought to the VHL from that agency. The lone player not from Season 20 is David Walcott who reached 111 assists in Season 26, godo enough for 3rd all-time. David Walcott like his predecessors before him all come from the "Knight" agency. Knight has a uncanny ability to bring players to stardom particularly if your name is David, so if your name is David children and you work hard, chances are you could play in the VHL. Next on the list is Frans Spelman, now I'm not one to forget players and their agencys but this is one that i actually cannot remember for the life of me. In Season 20 though, he put up 106 assists which is good enough for 4th all-time. Michael Angelo is next on the list after putting up an impressive 98 assists in his rookie season. This too was in Season 20. Coming in at 18 is Mikka Virkunen who put up 91 assists in Season 20. These player agencies for the last two players also escape me as I wasn't around for this time. Last on the list from Season 20-29 is Voittu Jannula who put up 87 assists in Season 20. Jannula was apart of "McNeil" agency and was one of his better players. From Season 20 alone the grand total of assists reached is 496 from just Season 20.

Seasons 30-31

With this list last being updated in Season 32 I believe, the last four players are Ryan Sullivan, Elijah Incognito, Thesus Athera and Emerson Byer. That is a lot of people actually compared to the goals list that made it from Season 30+. These men should be proud as they come in 6th, 12th, 14th and 21st respectively.

This was a fairly good read. This is another interesting series you have going. Like I have told you before, I really like reading about the history of the VHL and most of your articles are very well thought out. I did find this one slightly hard to read, however. Mainly the "Seasons 1-9" section. I just found that the way it was written made it difficult to read. The rest of the article was better, though.

Grammar: 1/2

Looks like a lot of small stuff piled up here. I'm usually extremely lenient when it comes to commas, but this was a bit excessive. I know there is lots of members on here willing to proofread peoples media spots and maybe that is something you should look into.

one seasons = one season

the record for those = the record, for those

9 players or 36% = 9 players, or 36%,   (x3, at the start of each body paragraph)

made it in the top 25 all-time in assists = made it to the top 25 all-time assists list

Scotty Campbell who = Scotty Campbell, who

Season 8 which again = Season 8 which, again,

The next Season 5 alum appears on this list, this players name is Alex McNeil. = Yet another Season 5 alum appears next on the list, and that is Alex McNeil. (Something like that would work better, the wording of this sentence just doesn't work)

97 assists which = 97 assists, which

recrod holder = record holder

godo = good

David Walcott like his predecessors before him all come from the "Knight" agency. = [Just doesn't make sense]

1,591 words. Again the concept is great and the writing was pretty good. What I'm seeing week after week is kind of the same thing, where the idea is on the same level and you use the same dialect at times. For example, one instance you might see from time to time in your Media Spots is:

"That is a very long time if you let that sink in, X seasons have come and gone. To put in perspective" - (note, it should be To put it in perspective btw)

And each paragraph kind of repeats itself, just with different numbers and players. I'm not saying this is a shitty Media Spot or anything, but switching some things up might keep this fresh each time. Also the long lists aren't really needed. They take away from what's important.

I found a few more things, but nothing that would constitute another deduction on top of Draper's.

Appearance: 1/1

Looked good.
