It has now been 27 games into S38, and Jarkko Olsen is still chugging along at a much improved pace. While his pace has slowed slightly, his production on the second line has been helpful for Davos' season. His chemistry with line mate Naomi Young is apparent, as both are enjoying quick starts to the year.

Last season Jarkko finished with 18 goals and 20 assists for 38 total points in the 72 games, barely half a point a game. This season he is 1 goal and 2 assists shy of his previous season totals, for 35 points less than halfway through the season. He is on pace for 45 goals and 53 assists, which could give him 98 points. 98 points would still be Olsen's best season in the VHL to date.

Olsen finds himself on the top 10 list for goals scored for the first time in his VHL career. This is the first time he has graced a top scoring list since his time in the VHLM. He is currently the 5th highest scoring right wing. His 4 game winning goals also find him on a top 10 list.

Olsen has improved this season after his worst season ever, as his career has seemed to be in a gradual decline. Considering his skills started depreciating this season, it is quite impressive that he could actually begin to improve this late in his career. Perhaps Olsen's best days are still in front of him.

Olsen is drastically improved defensively. He has 89 hits on the year, which is already 27 more than his previous season best. He is on pace for 253 hits, which is a 380% increase over the last season. He also has 12 shots blocked, which already matches his previous year total. His improvements defensively outshine his improvements offensively.

Could Jarkko be in line for the Most Improved Player?
