Don't leave me bro

 

According to TSN's James Duthie, rumour has it that this season is Alex Pearson's swan song.  Even Pearson himself has vaguely touched the retirement subject. Everyone assumed that the Jayrad Player Agency would be welcoming in a new player at the trade deadline. So far that has yet to happen which makes me wonder if he had changed his mind about retiring. The only other possibility is that the Jayrad Player Agency will be shutting down it's doors, which I certainly hope isn't the case. 

 

Alex Pearson is a center for the Prague Phantoms and is one of the few remaining players from the Phantom's inaugural season. Originally Pearson was selected in the expansion draft by the Phantoms and he's been a positive influence on the team since. Pearson was a part of this team's leadership core since the very beginning and eventually got voted team captain for this season.  He's currently one point away from hitting the 50 point milestone for the 2nd time in his career and 5 points away from making this season his career best. 

 

He's also a member of the S67 draft class and legally has two more seasons left in him, so why even retire? Pearson himself cited that he has had quite a few injuries over the years and that they're coming back to haunt him as nagging pains but with the career year he's been having and the fact that no announcement was done about his retirement just yet makes me think Pearson may have more left in the tank. 

 

"I sure hope Alex doesn't retire, I need him here with me. He's my rock here in Prague and I lean on him to provide me everyday advice and he pushes me hard at the gym, it gets even a little competitive.  It just wouldn't be the same without him around. Me and Alex go back quite a bit, we've both been here since the beginning of this franchise and we've gotten to learn about the city and it's fans together. I got to know him very well over the year as he was my room mate on the road for the last 5 seasons. We've even been arrested, and fought our demons together.  My world will be a complete mess once he decides to fuck off down the road. I've gotten so used to his presence it'll be very weird going on without him. Please, don't leave me bro"
