Miami Marauders, dumb penalties for an S team?

Recommended Posts

the Marauders are considered top contenders for this year's Founder's Cup.
With a Stacked Offense with players like Dakota Lamb, Patrik Laine, and team captain Andre LeBastard.
and a Defense Filled with hardened veterans like Wolf Stansson and Victor Grachev.
Make a pretty solid argument about why they a pretty solid argument why they started the tournament 2-0 with 9 Goals and just 3 against them.
But we won't talk about the stats that you can check in any other note.
no, not at all. Today we're gonna visit one of the key reasons Miami it's not only the perfect marriage between Offense AND Defense. But we're analyzing their special Units.

Kevin King            Dakota Lamb
Wolf Stansson     Eoin Byrne

Andre Lebastard    Luke Thornton
Kirishima Wakaro    Victor Grachev

PK3

Andre Lebastard    Wolf Stansson     Eoin Byrne

Kevin King            Kirishima Wakaro    Victor Grachev

Vs Ottawa Lynx

Penalty Kill

Miami Marauders - 7 on 8 Attempt(s) - 87.50%
Ottawa Lynx - 3 on 3 Attempt(s) - 100.00%

VS Halifax 21st

Penalty Kill

Halifax 21st - 2 on 3 Attempt(s) - 66.67% - Score 0 goal in Penalty Kill
Miami Marauders - 5 on 5 Attempt(s) - 100.00% - Score 0 goal in Penalty Kill

What we can see on between both games is that Miami managed to kill 12 out of 13 penalties, what's equal to the 92.3% of the opportunities and that's quite honestly a really impressive feat, considering that Ottawa's  2425 TPE make them another contender for the championship and one of Miami's Main weapons for this special teams it's the 16 years old Irish that barely has 85 TPE.
more than that, with barely any minutes in the box and getting a good chunk of his playing time from the Special Teams, this promising future Special team specialist it's getting his first steps on the league the best possible way, by learning from coaches and teammates alike.
but he's not the sole reason Miami has such effectivity when outnumbered.

Two trusty pairs of hands on the veteran Bacon and the promising rookie Russell Rattie just complements Marauder's recipe to success.
Now... The Halifax game... even if it's a contending team against one that's in the middle of a rebuilding process, Miami's lack of discipline gave plenty of opportunities to both Halifax and Ottawa to score. And unless Marauder's GM, Krice does something about it, it's up to these special teams units to keep the games within hand, because maybe Ottawa and Halifax ain't enough competition, but when the competition gets tougher and Miami gets forced to face teams like Houston, Saskatoon or Minnesota, giving away so many chances to play outnumbered will force them to bring their A-game and avoid getting scored on at all cost. hopefully, Their Power Play units will take the glove that's being thrown by the PK and step up to start scoring when the numbers are on their favor. Because right now, the marauders are just and undisciplined team, that's skilled when the numbers are even, but can't seal the deal when it's their time to outnumber the rivals.
