Chinjim_17 8
Just the Start of Something Great… Earlier this week the Mexico City Kings made a big move in signing a power left winger in Korendeh Korslava. At 6’3 and weighing 200 pounds this offensive forward will help the Mexico City Kings alot. His hockey career started in Estonia where he was born “he is a very good playmaker and can make something out of nothing,” said his coach in Estonia. He played with the Estonian National Men’s Ice Hockey Team. With also playing in the Meistriliiga which is an Estonian ice hockey league. With only 4 teams in the hockey league it isn’t as competitive as the VHL but has many Estonian ice hockey fans tuning in on television or to watch them in action in person. As the VHL season started days ago we got to see Korendeh Korslava in action! In 7 games Korendeh had 9 points with 2 goals and 7 assists. He is a very good play-maker as his former coach said. As of now his 9 points are 4th best on the team behind Jeremy Lin, Wolf Weiss and chris foley. One thing that doesn’t look good is the amount of shots he has on goal and the amount of goals he has. With 31 shots he only has 2 goals. Which means a 6.45% shooting percentage which is the third worst in the VHLM. I got a chance to talk to Korendeh today about his performance so far and what it is like to play in the VHLM. Reporter: You have your first VHLM game under the wraps. How did it feel playing your first game? Korendeh: Man, it was great. I loved the fans cheering the team on and the atmosphere was amazing. Nothing like I experienced in Estonia. I adored every second of it. Reporter: Do you see anything you would like to improve on in the upcoming games? Korendeh: I think the biggest thing I am lacking is my accuracy shooting. I will focus on that in the upcoming practices I have. Reporter: You played in Estonian for a couple of years, how is hockey in Estonia different to the VHL? Korendeh: As I said before the atmosphere was electric. Like in Estonia we only have 300 seats for fans that wish to cheer their team on. But in the VHL you have more than a thousand people coming to watch you play every game. And the practice facilities are much better maintained so I think I can bring my hockey skills to the next level. Reporter: Thank you for your time Korendeh. Korendeh: My pleasure! With Korendeh making his debut for the Mexico City Kings we saw a lot of things he did that amazed lots of people like how good of a playmaker he is. But he also showed he has some work to do. As he said he will be working on his shooting accuracy could use some work. We will follow his performance in the future so stay tuned!
