VHL announced earlier today that multiple members have been sent offers to join a rival league. VHL is actively looking into the case and trying to find those who are responsible. Due to the fact that every member has signed a contract to play in VHL or VHLM, it's against the rules to leave and at the same time it's against the rules to aggressively promote another league, so not that surprising that the league made the situation public.

Early reports suggest that Helsinki winger Jim Bob might be involved. He commented under the official VHL announcement with the following words: ´Yea I sent those messages, but I did it because I want to promote my league, the ASL or Albanian Super League. I want Albanian hockey to grow and I want the Albanian league to be the best in the world. In my opinion, it's unfair that rival leagues are not allowed to directly approach members and players in VHL or VHLM, if I want to hire best of the best into my league, how can I do that without talking to those players first? The year 2020 and still we follow some words on a paper. #JusticeForASL´

The comment was quickly removed either by Jim Bob himself or people who run the VHL news channel, but luckily some readers were able to take a screenshot of the reply before it disappeared. If we analyze the comment made by Jim Bob it clearly shows that Bob appears to be promoting an Albanian hockey league, which normally might not say much but it's important to remember that Jim was born Albania and when we know that Jim is considering his future in Helsinki and in VHL, all the pieces start to fit in. Is Jim leaving VHL to play in Albania? And more importantly, is Jim starting a new league in Europe and is now trying to recruit players from VHL?

This is just pure speculation at this point, but if the scenario above is true and Jim is behind the whole scheme, that is going to end badly for Jim Bob. He could even get permanently banned from playing in the league. Despite Bob having a somewhat rocky ride so far in his career, he still has a lot of potential, it´s almost crazy to think why a player near his prime would consider almost giving up on playing at the highest level in the hopes of starting a new league somewhere, that sounds more like something you do at the end of your career. For that reason, VHL as a league should take their time in figuring out what is going on. What if Jim´s account was hacked? That is a real possibility, but then again if you are going to lose millions of dollars that is exactly what you should say - my account was hacked.

VHL has not commented on whether Jim Bob was involved or not, and no additional information has been released yet, so we will see how the investigation goes and who is behind it all.
