With the Victory Hockey Leagues Seventy-Third off-season in full swing, the usual events have come an gone, including the VHL Season Seventy-Four VHL Entry Draft. The Los Angeles Stars took place in their second VHL draft, after taking Jeffrey Pines in the First Round Eighth Overall last year. After finishing their inaugural season a twenty-nine win regular season, the Stars received the Fifth Overall draft choice during the VHL Draft Lottery, and when the time came the Stars took the best goalie and one of the oldest VHL draftees ever, Doug Dimmadome.

Dimmadome played in seventy-two games with the San Diego Marlins of the VHLM after the franchise selected the fifty-year-old Honduras native with the fourteenth pick in the Season Seventy-Three VHLM Dispersal Draft. In those seventy-two regular season games with the Marlins last year, Dimmadome managed to put up a 51-19-2 record. Dimmadome and the Marlins also played in eleven playoffs games where Dimmdome put up a 6-4-1 record, to go along with a .904 save percentage and 2.45 goals against average.

Although Dimmadome was either top four or five in most goalie categories over the course of the regular season with the Marlins, not a lot of pre-draft talk was directed towards Dimmadome, so his selection at Fifth Overall may have come as a surprise to many around the league. Now as he enters his rookie season ad the main guy between the pipes for the Stars, Dimmadome will look to prove why the team used the Fifth Overall pick to grab him.
