A Career in Review

Matty Socks’ couple seasons in the VHLM flew by. For just a moment, it seemed, he was playing for the Las Vegas Aces before he was drafted fifth overall to the Miami Marauders. About to begin his VHL rookie season, Socks is looking back on his VHLM career and reflecting on the growth and development he had in the minors.

As a free agent, Socks signed with Proto at the Las Vegas Aces in Season 72 and joined his first real team. With the Aces, Socks had the opportunity to play alongside Micah Adrienne and Alex Letang, two strong defesenment who are paving the way in the VHL. Following Letang’s lead, Socks racked up assists and finished out with 57 total points during the regular season. The Aces’ time in the playoffs was short, but the six games played were a great experience for Socks as he set sights on winning big with Miami in Season 73.

Socks joined Miami, along with his pal Kevin King from the Las Vegas Aces, and was in for a great season. Although an expansion team, Miami had big guns in their back pocket for their second season with strong individual players like Dakota Lamb, Patrik Laine, and Wolf Stansson on defense. The core from the previous year looked forward to the additions to the team, and Matty Socks’ proven talent was no different. With the Marauders, Socks finished the regular season with 35 goals and 69 assists, totalling 104 points. Miami pushed through the playoffs, making it all the way to the championship game, where they played the Minnesota Storm and lost the series. Despite the lost, Socks still walked out of the Marauders locker room for the last time feeling proud of the contributions he had made to the team and the connections he’d established with his teammates.

Socks’s contributions to the team were not unseen - With Miami, Socks was awarded the Kosmo Kramerev Award as the top defenseman and Most Valuable Marauder after the playoffs were completed. Socks was honored to have had such a positive impact on the team, and he hopes that his future with the Chicago Phoenix is just as promising as his career in the VHLM.

Socks was drafted 22nd overall in the VHL draft to Chicago, which was quite a surprise to him. Though many teams reached out to him, scouting his interest in their teams, Chicago was not one of them. Thus, it came to a surprise that the expansion team decided to take on the young defenseman. Though his new team is small, they are confident that the season holds big surprises for the league. Socks is looking forward to playing alongside strong forwards this season, both veterans and fellow rookies.

The season has just started, so it’s difficult to say exactly what it holds for the young team. However, after 11 games played, Chicago is gripping fifth place. If the hard work continues from all aspects of the team, including Socks, the Phoenix may have a chance at setting a new precedent for the team in seasons to come.

Good introduction and funny picture, guess the Spartan likes his defenders because we've been loaded with them for at least 3 seasons now

Great job with grammer and keeping the reader entertained, third paragraph is a bit long though but you did have statistics in there so not a big deal.. If it were me I'd add them below like the picture for reference but this is only advice if you want to create something above and beyond

Again you were in a good position while playing in Miami, knew of Socks but I'm just making the connection that it's your character, my bad.. Guess the article helps that because you broke down your whole career plus mentioned others. Wrapped everything up nicely with the outro too

Congratulations on the accolades and good luck in with the Phoenix! Overall I rate this media spot a 9/10
