Kvothe sets sight on outperforming stock after draft night

In the much lauded S75 VHLM Dispersal Draft former Las Vegas Ace forward Kaladin Kvothe was taken in the 5th round with the 49th pick by the San Diego Marlins. Though his rookie half-season with the Aces didn't give Kvothe much room to strut his stuff in the regular season he did provide a bit of a spark from the 4th line in the playoffs with 2 goals and a trio of assists in the Aces run. 

 

In such a deep draft there are many players that can end up slipping under the radar or falling for one reason or another. In this particular draft due to the wealth of talent at the forward spots, the draft was frontloaded with team selecting the best of the relatively few defensemen that they could get their hands on. Some tentativeness on the part of team selecting Kvothe could also be due to the lack of confidence in players coming out of the UK, with few players from the diminutive isles being able to make the transition to the American game. 

 

We caught up with Kvothe at draft night to get his reaction on his selection.

"Well obviously I thought that I would be seeing my name called a lot earlier but it's a testament to the growth of the league and the excellent work that the people in charge have put it to draw in players from all over the world. I haven't covered myself in glory this past season, taking a while to adjust and with limited minutes on a deep Vegas team. I'm not sad about where I've ended up though, the Marlins are an excellent team and they've brought it a whole host of talent this draft with very savvy picks. I'll also relish the chance to follow in the footsteps of my mentor Raleigh Ritchie who enjoyed some of his best years here, you better bet that there's a target on his point totals already.
