Hextall named captain of the Legion, prepared for tough season

Recommended Posts

Shortly before the start of the season the Toronto Legion made the announcement of the new Captain and the alternatives, given that Killinger, Magnum and McDagg are all gone someone had to fill the role and it was obvious who would. Jaxx Hextall said he was honored and would do his best to help the new players develop. It is a little odd for a goalie to be a captain of a team but not unheard of, Hextall does have experience in this field after all as he captained the season 70 Minnesota Storm to the championship. He understands the team is gonna have a rough season hopes to keep spirits up and give fans something to cheer about. In his second game and first win of the season Hextall posted a shutout against the New York Americans, stopping all 32 shots he faced. In game 9 against Chicago Phoenix Jaxx faced a whopping 68 shots, 5 of them getting through but still, it must have been a very tiring night for him. So far Hextall has played 11 games this season and faced a total of 468 shots, that averages out to 42.5 shots per game. His save percentage currently sits at .917 and his goals against average at 3.55. His record is currently 4-6-1. During post game interviews Hextall has joked about getting multiple pears of backup goalie gear, new pads, gloves, jersey and so on because some games he swears his gear is just so covered in black marks that you can't even see the logo anymore.
