Looking at S72 Draftees and Where They are Now (1/4)

With most S72 players entering their 4th or 3rd year in the VHL, I think it's about time to review each draft pick (at least in the first round) and determine how they have been doing so far.

1. SS Hornet
With the #1 OA draft pick every team dreams of drafting their next franchise cornerstone, one that can lead them to a championship and someone to build around for the next few years. At the very least, they hope for a good player. SS Hornet so far is not on a path to the HOF, but he is certainly a good player at the very least. Coming into the draft, he was the consensus #1 OA pick and for good reason with both a high floor and ceiling. In his rookie season in the dead puck era, he was able to win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy for rookie of the year. Following up on his early career success, he continued to play well, being a critical part of the DAV S73 playoff team. So far he has played solid, almost reaching a PPG in S74.

2.  Robin Winter
DAV picked up another good player with their 2nd overall pick in Robin Winter. He, like SS Hornet, has had similar seasons up to now. A notable achievement is that he was able to reach 79 points in S74.  He will continue to be an integral part of DAV and will be a piece that they will be building around for another few seasons. Despite his early-season struggles this season, he has all the tools to bring it back on track and be one of the best players in the upcoming seasons.

3. Latrell Mitchell
The first defenceman picked in the S72 draft has so far been playing very well. Despite being a PIM machine racking up over 100 PIMs in each of the 3 seasons till now, he has also been a stalwart defender. Recently he was able to get over 160 SB, 150 HITS and 67 points, showing his versatility in both ends. After recently being traded to WAR, perhaps this is the season that he finally breaks out in.

4. Gino DiGiannantonio
Here is the first bust of the draft. Despite rapid improvements in his rookie season, in his sophomore season, he started to slow down and lost motivation. Nothing much to say here, he's been traded around a few teams as a depth piece so far. An unfortunate case where a young prospect's potential is wasted.

5. Randy Marsh
Despite being a highly-touted prospect and having solid strides in his skills, Marsh seems to have hit a wall in his play. Despite improvements in his technical abilities, it seems that it hasn't translated into the game itself. He had a very respectable sophomore season with over 200 HITS and 100 SB, with 42 points. Unfortunately, since then, he has not reached those numbers again once. If he gets over this slump, he may become one of the best defensive defencemen in the league.

6. General Zod
General Zod is what Randy Marsh could've been. Despite having an abysmal rookie season, Zod continued to improve himself and was able to start carving out a name for himself.  In S73, he was CGYs quarterback on offence with 66 points and 62 assists. His defence was outstanding also with almost 100 SB and over 200 HITS. The season after that his stats regressed slightly, but he is looking to break out this year.

Great article, player overviews gave a pretty good summary of each player's draft day potential, achievements so far and future potential. One improvement I would've made is adding a few pictures here and there to make it look nicer. The only disappointment for me is that you didn't talk about my player yet lol. 10/10
