Yukon vs Turku

It's official. The predictions that have been made since the beginning of the season have held true. The Yukon Rush and the Turku Outlaws will face off against each other in what will be a surely epic battle for the Founder's Cup. This is going to be an exciting series. While Yukon has been heavily favoured all season, I think it would be detrimental to them if they were to underestimate the power of the Outlaws. That said, I still think they will lay a firm beat down on them.

In the regular season, the Rush ended up with a 59-11-2 record, compared to Turku's 51-18-3. Both fantastic showings of course, but Yukon does have the edge there. Not that the regular season records are going to dictate how the playoffs go, of course. I just don't know if a team, as deep as Turku is, can even come close to the team that Yukon has put together. With threats like superstar defenseman Don Draper, famed centreman Bennett Wahl, plus all the waiver pickups such as James Faraday, Salvador, and Lukas Nykvist, the Rush have built one of the best and deepest teams to ever grace the ice with their glorious skate blades.

In my opinion, it is the Rush's defense that is going to propel them past Turku. With the likes of Dexter Morgan, who holds the Season 38 scoring title, and Dimothenis Vlasis, who holds the assists title, and Outlaws are an offensively lethal team. However, even with that offensive power, will they be able to crack the fortress that is the Yukon defensive squad?

Throughout the regular season, Turku pummelled their opponents with their offense. Overall, against the Lynx, the Outlaws scored 47 goals in 9 games. 53 against the Watchmen. 54 against Bern. How many against Yukon, you ask? 21. The next lowest would be against Brampton at 33, however they only played 7 games against each other.

The picture I am trying to paint becomes even clearer when you compare the ratio of Goals For/Goals Against.

Yukon: 214.19%

Turku: 140.87%

What all of this means is that the Turku scorers are going to have to fight tooth and nail to get past the Yukon defence. It's certainly not going to be what they are used to, playing against teams like Moscow. Further attesting to the Rush's defensive capabilities is that fact that have an astounding 83% success rate on the penalty kill.

In conclusion, Turku has a hell of a fight on their hands. However, even though is article was originally an effort to demoralize Turku, Yukon definitely can't underestimate their opponents. They are more than worthy. Looking at the recent VHL series', Davos vs Riga and New York vs Toronto, I think it goes without saying than nobody can predict the outcome of the sim until it is done, unless you're Jardy.

495 words. A shorter article, but a good analysis of the VHLM Finals regardless. Both teams were built to win, so this series should be very interesting. I'm kind of torn however; Draper winning another title or former Saskatoon Wild Devin Sundberg winning a title? Great job here and good luck.

Grammar: 2/2

33, however = 33; however
