Ledge 1,131
Although this was only the second season where I existed in this league, I know the VHM dispersal draft last night was a crazy one. I'm going to list two points of stuff that happened before, during, or after the draft last night. *** Note: I am not counting the Ottawa pick and I'm moving all the other picks up by one. Sorry for the inconvenience 1. Houston gets 6 first round picks Well, not exactly. There's a rule in the VHLM that you can't have more than I think 3 first round picks, but that didn't stop @rjfryman. If we exclude the Ottawa Lynx forfeited pick here, the Bulls had 3 first round picks going into the draft. With the first overall pick, he took Paul Atreides, and selected Duncan Idaho with the second overall pick. Then, the Philly Reapers took Asher Reinhart with the 4th overall pick. But rj promptly traded a S78 3rd, a S76 second(which turned out to be Mikey Harris) and a S77 4th in exchange for Reinhart, effectively giving the Bulls the first four picks in the draft because at 4th overall, they selected Javad Kamkar. After Yukon went and took Abe Roque with 5th overall, the Bulls wanted more. The Aces had the 7th overall pick, and selected Rusty Knale. But Knale and an S77 5th were dealt to Houston for the pick that would turn into Darryl McDagg, and S77 2nd and 4th. Oh, and they were not done yet. When Miami took Germano Henchoz 10th overall, the Bulls traded for him and The Blob with some more picks. A pretty eventful night, if you ask me. 2. Teams go crazy for defencemen Yeah, this one is exactly as advertised. The value of defencemen suddenly skyrocketed, because of the sheer amount of forwards available and the lack of defencemen. Also relevant was the massive goalie falling, but that's just part of the routine, so not worth mentioning in detail. However, this year's issue with defencemen is pretty new. Guys who were relatively low on TPE and activity were going real fast in the first three rounds, and a lot of teams now have less than 4 defencemen. It's unlikely that we'll see another D core like the one Vegas had last season, at least for this season. . And that wraps up probably my longest ever vhl.com article.
