Are you excited for the new season because I am, looking at the new arrivals it seems like London made it out of draft night again with some gems they can use in the future, here's a list of all the prospects competing this year in the VHLM and a little report from each of our scouts, hope you enjoy!

Ever since signing up Vaughn has been showing his face all over the place with gym appearances in every city he travels to, eating at the finest restaurants and answering any questions the media has thrown at him making a name for himself early in his career, this season is a little bit different for him though and when I say a little I mean it, last season with the Ottawa Lynx Dexter was able to play through grueling games that had him flying all over the place tired and restless, it didn't take long for the coach to notice too as we saw a benched netminder for most of the season, not because he was playing bad but the workout he had to endure during the early back-to-back games was too much in a development league and ended the season with 40.7 shots against per game.

 

Starting off in the new season D.V. continues to be comfortable with the media and still enjoys each city he visits but being back in Canada seems to be giving him a morale boost as he enjoys the familiar cheering and chanting of the crowd, something that'll only help him string together a few wins here and there playing in another organization that's rebuilding as he plays alongside a similar skilled goaltender Jurgis Kalvelis-Blazevicious just like he did with the Lynx, they're one of the best VHLM goaltending duos this season so who knows what the 21st is capable of if they both get going at the same time during stretches. Right now he has taken on 37.8 shots per game and has helped him team place 7th in the standings.

Veteran in his own right but beginner still young in the VHLM, Rusty Knale has been a big hitter from the beginning in Philadelphia and showed a lot of poise with the puck which made him a prospect to watch, he averaged a hit in every game he played in and kept a positive plus/minus in 50 games, in the playoffs we saw the same type of effort with an extra edge playing in 15 games, the London scouts obviously noticed him in seek of a physical defender and selected him in the 2nd round.  

 

This season we see a more offensive minded defenseman that can still land a huge hit and his line-mate Jared Carter has stated to the media how grateful he was multiple times for his efforts so far, their chemistry together seems to be perfect early on and if both blueliners keep up the good work the rest of the team is going to benefit from excellent passing and defense from the backend. In games Knale has close to 2 hits per game and already passed his last season totals with 4 points in his first week of games!

One of the biggest changes for one of our prospects has to be Kamkar in Minnesota, he went from being the top defender on a weak team to playing on the last line of a strong team, it's not a minus though with tons of teammates and players to let you rest before taking the next shift but he'll will need to adjust more than the other prospects in those terms. When he played last season the scouts saw tons of potential in his defensive defenseman mindset, he shot only when he had a chance (shot every other game), made sure his hits counted (little over 1 per game) and saved his body for the shots that could have went in (shot block every other game). Looking at his highlights the United decided to bite on him in the 4th round, hoping for a defender to fill right away whenever the veteran defenders leave in the next few seasons. 

 

Similar to last season we see him give an excellent effort playing with the Storm trying his best to get more ice-time playing behind the likes of a strong defensive core of Logan Moore, Markuss Puhova and Ron World Peace III but we shouldn't much change in their line up. Right now B.K. needs to continue playing his game and focus on making a difference like he had last season, he may not get as many chances but for this conserved defenseman it shouldn't be an issue. Highlights we've seen so far are his hitting ability, averaging more than last season with 2 per game.

Strider played his 100th VHLM game last season and has been steadily improving his overall skill, passing other members in his draft class as he aims to make it to the VHL with the United. In those games he was only able to get 26 points but looking at the numbers closer it looks like John hasn't really been given that big of a chance to take the shot being on strong teams. A positive is his offensive minded game and the willingness to get the shot off regardless of the situation as we seen him get 1.73 per game last season, something you have to know how to do whenever you advance or the veterans will steal the puck every time, he also starting throwing the body more in a Marlin jersey and played a key role in their power-play unit during the end of the season, averaging 1.68 all season.. He continued in that role during in the post-season too and impressed the coaching staff.

 

Now this season traveling once again with improved overall it looks like his team Mexico City is giving the winger more of a chance to show off his skills playing on a 2nd line with experienced players of similar skill, center Chris Foley and winger Logan Hoffman, they also have been experimenting with the 1st line players for future lineup situations since their forwards are all pretty close in TPE. The Kings are geared to win and J.S. is ready to score, with more ice-time and more than ready line-mates we could see our boy as one of the top goal scorers next season. So far he is flaming hot and gets at least 4.5 off per game while maintaining a physical force and averaging better than last year with 3.1 per game, easily almost doubling both averages from last season

Probably the most inexperienced players drafted by the United and still has a lot to learn before making a huge impact this season but definitely has the build to do it if the goal is to be involved, checking, skating, strength, passing and scoring are all things a power forward can do and Gabby skates fast, hits often or shoots every shift which makes it easier for teammates to adjust and get into position, yes it's exciting to watch but if Dugan wants to make it into the VHL, you have to be ready to get skated past, hit often and be in the lane to block a shot too or all efforts will be lost and the goal right now should be focusing on a few things at a time but with only a tryout in the VHLM it's hard to tell right now how much potential G.D. could have.

 

Drafted in the 6th round by the Yukon Rush in need of prospects to fill their already rough and tough roster, we see a perfect spot to learn and develop into a player every team could use, no pun intended but there's no rush when you got tons of time! Now currently playing on there 3rd line with physical wingers like Gaspar Zakrevsky and Slick Dasher, all the focus is on Dugan to make the move near the net while maintaining a dominate level of physicality playing against other grinding match ups. Stats look pretty average with almost a shot block and shot at net each game but that's a great start and will only help get more points down the road.

Known for his defensive habits and excellent skating, we see an excellent example of a compete forward in the VHLM who can cover both ends of the ice. In his first ever season in the minors he racked a good amount of points with the Ottawa Lynx and 20 of them were goals, 5 on the PP. He shot shot close to 3 times a game, 2 hits per and at least a shot block every game, he definitely was the teams best forward and a big loss to their lineup when Stein was selected by the new manager in Halifax. Going into the new season with a positive attitude and being part of another rebuilder should make him feel comfy and should pass his point totals easily, now if the 21st can get a few more top players in their line up, doesn't matter the player type, Stein will thrive even more! 

 

Looking at his stats so far in S76 we see exactly the same kind of ice-time given but his numbers have risen from the middle of the pack to the top playing alongside line-mate Eeli Rantanen, recently they received a boost adding another forward, Willy Myers who played for Prague this season but was called down after just 6 games, this should be the extra star player P.S. needs to get his game going on a different level. In just 10 games Philip is turning heads and averages a whopping 6.9 shots, 2.2 hits and at least a shot block each game while earning himself 1.6 assists, 2.4 points per game.

Coming into the league Uelk had already solid tracker record for scoring and producing points in the juniors and he followed that with a great season playing for Ottawa, in those games he was able to produce 0.66 points per game in his rookie season and established himself as one of the shooters for the Lynx. After the draft and a new team Kolby is more than ready to make an impact again in a Marlin jersey but he is going to want to try and focus on skating and puckhanding if he wants to reach the top of the player leaderboards.

 

After leaving a team as a #1 center and well-versed in different types of wingers for line-mates we see K.U. take a step back in ice-time and this season he plays behind one of the leagues best centers Nikolas D'Andrea, who has been teaching the youngster how to get through each game with a positive attitude and continue having a grinding mentality moving forward the next games. Looking at this season he's been even busier and doesn't seem to get as tired whenever the team has a game the next night, if he can attend practice regularly and continue to follow in D'Andrea's footsteps than he could be one of the premiere centers next season. His numbers look pretty good and has been clutch for San Diego thus far, he has been able to produce a point per game, shooting 2.3 times and has thrown a puck removing hit 1.4 times in all 10 games he's been in.

This is great read! I really like the formatting and actually typing out the stats and other things like jersey numbers, nationality and vhlm team is something I don't see often which makes it great. Makes it so much easier to get an idea of who these prospects are without using the portal to look them up. Overall a really great read. A bit more colour would work but again, a wonderful article
