Greg_Di 1,028
Tom Eagles, Defensive prospect for the Calgary Wranglers, was expected to take a 2 week vacation with his family before focusing and turning his attention to the grueling VHL season. The rookie had a European trip planned and we recently received the details of this trip. The trip unfortunately did not go ahead as planned due to the Covid pandemic but we will take a look at where this rookie was planning to go. Poland: Tom was born and grew up in Poland. The first stop of his European trip was to visit Wroclaw where most of his family live. This stop would have been mostly focused on visiting and handing out with his family and friends but he did have a few stops planned. One of those stops was to go to the "Rynek" which is the market square where no automotive traffic is allowed. This square has many pubs, clubs and retail establishments and would have been a great spot to relax. After Wroclaw he was also scheduled to drive to Krakow to visit the salt mine with his family. The salt mine is a very famous mine in Poland which was established in the 13th century. While no more salt mining is done at this mine, this is a great tourist attraction to see as there is an underground lake and many items and statues carved out of salt. His family would have spent 10 days in Poland. France: After Poland, Tom was scheduled to travel to Paris, France for a friends wedding with his wife. This short trip would only last 4 days with 2 days spend in Paris visiting the Eifel tower as well as the Louvre and the Sacre Coure. Tom and his wife would have also spent some time at the various cafes around Paris. The next 2 days would have been spent in Lyon where the wedding would have taken place. Tom was not expecting to visit many tourist sites in Lyon as the wedding would have taken up all 2 days. After the wedding the Eagles family was scheduled to travel back home to Calgary as the VHL season was starting to get underway. " It would have been great to get away and relax for a little bit " Said Tom " but it just wasn't meant to be. This pandemic caused our flights and trip to be cancelled and we really don't know the next time we will have an opportunity to go on vacation due to my hockey schedule. Most people go in the off-season but for me, I stay home and keep on training. I want to be the best and to be the best you have to sacrifice some things"Future Plans: When asked about his future travel plans, Tom said that he does not plan on travelling until his 8 years in the VHL are up. After the 8 years he said he would be going on a long 2-3 month vacation visiting countries in Europe as well as also travelling to Australia, South Korea, Japan and South America. Hopefully by that time travelling will be back to normal and there won't be any cancelations.
