The first person we will take a look at in this article is the man who went first overall in the draft. Living up to that is always a huge task to handle, and O'Malley was superb in his first season. In Season 40, Thomas O'Malley came into the VHL and instantly landed on everyone's radars. He scored 110 points including 38 goals, and won the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy as the league's best rookie. He was a whopping +71 and one of the VHL's best two-way forwards, and that was only season number one for him. In his next season, his numbers dropped off a little bit, but he still scored 91 points, and managed to get 39 goals, one more than his previous season. His plus/minus had taken a hit as well, dropping to +43, which is still huge for anyone in the VHL. In his third season, number 42 of VHL hockey, his season numbers dropped even lower, sinking down to 78 points with a -4. Where he shined the most that season was in the playoffs, where he scored 18 points in Cologne's 16 playoff games, and greatly aided the Express onto winning the Continental Cup. Currently in Season 43, he has 64 points in 42 games, looking like he could very well break his own personal records. Thomas O'Malley has definitely risen to the occasion in being selected first overall, and Cologne can't complain.

Christoph Klose - 14th Overall

Now we will take a look towards another current member of the Cologne Express, Christoph Klose. Klose was overlooked by many and selected 14th overall by the New York Americans in the 2nd Round. This is the main reason I want to focus on Klose. Before entering the VHL, Christoph was chosen in the VHLM as the man to receive the Esposito Trophy, awarded to the playoff MVP. Coming into the VHL as a rookie, Klose earned 46 points in 72 games, including 28 goals, which are pretty great numbers. He came onto a strong New York Americans roster while trying to fit in with the powerhouse that the Americans were at the time, and he didn't look out of place. They went on to win the Season 41 Continental Cup, and that's quite the milestone for a first year player. In Season 42, he improved to 74 points, with 29 goals and +41 rating. In those playoffs, New York were favourites once again, but were outed in the 2nd Round in seven games by the Quebec City Meute. In this past off-season, Christoph Klose was traded to the Cologne Express in a huge deal, and hasn't looked any worse for wear. Currently on the top seeded Express, he's obtained 44 points in 42 games. His career thus far has been far better than a 14th overall is expected to be.

Jody 3 Moons - 10th Overall

3 Moons is a current member of the uprising Stockholm Vikings. While stepping into the VHL in his rookie season, Jody quickly became one of the best centermen in the game. In his Season 41 rookie campaign, he scored 29 goals and had 110 points with a plus/minus of +48. Stellar numbers for a rookie, and he was a runner-up to the Stolzschweiger Trophy winner Sachimo Zoidberg, who had 54 goals with Toronto. Jody, just like Christoph Klose, won the Continental Cup as a rookie on that same New York Americans squad. 3 Moons had 11 points in 12 games during that playoff run, which showed he has what it takes to bring his game to another level in the post-season. In Season 42, he had very close to his numbers of his first year, but missed the mark by five points, earning 105. Although, this time he scored 35 goals, which was 6 better than before, setting a milestone for himself for future seasons. Jody, as you could guess, was eliminated by the Quebec City Meute just like Klose was with the Americans. In this past off-season, Jody 3 Moons was traded over to the Stockholm Vikings, and his location and new teammates haven't impacted his game at all. He is currently sitting in the Top 10 in point leaders, having 59 points in 42 games, with 29 goals. It's almost certain that he will beat out his career milestone of 35 goals with 30 games remaining, and his Vikings team is one to look out for now and the future.
