  1. Sorry, pure typo on my part. Not sure how I got that. Yes, he was drafted in the fifth round.
  2. Yes, he was drafted in the fitfth round, and they put years into him developing him into a legitimate NHL defender. Not just that, a defender who has a similar effect on his teammates as Chris Tanev. He's still only 22 years old, he's right handed, and it's not like the Canucks have depth on the back end either. Throwing him away for nothing is stupid, especially when they could have easily kept him on the roster. They chose not to, "because". That's the only answer Linden could muster. It's fucking sad how dumb Canucks management is, and how incompetent they are when it comes to asset management.
  3. Fuck Trevor Linden and Jim Benning for... Well, for being complete idiots. They knew they could protect Corrado and just threw him away anyways. Shitty, shitty asset management. Only thing they've got going for them is that they followed through on the "if the kids are good, they'll play" rhetoric. That was a nice change in pace.
  4. Right now they aren't, but potentially they are. I don't know why the Sedins + Sutter continues to be a thing because it will never work, so whenever they come to their frickin' senses they'll be able to run Henrik + Horvat + McCann + Sutter down the middle. As long as the two kids continue improving and Sedin continues at a steady pace, they'll be fine there.
  5. It doesn't make sense because the Canucks didn't have to expose him to waivers in the first place. For some bizarre reason, they just decided not to put Higgins on LTIR or something like that.
  6. Not happy about Corrado. Surprised they followed through on the rhetoric though: the kids outplayed people and got spots on the roster.
  7. Trying to keep them in that 4-6 minute range, because most people turn videos off if it's any longer. Also trying to add in more visuals and whatnot so it's not just me sitting there.
  8. I've heard too much about the other two to drop them now. H3 intrigues me because I love the idea of those movies being an anthology series, rather than all about Michael Myers. Pretty much everyone else I've talked to about it says it would have been well received if it had any other name. I did want to get Pumpkinhead on there, but I don't have time to do double features this year.
  9. Yeah, I have a hard time judging Romero films fairly because of how he ruined his own series and how full of himself he is. Night was very solid, it obviously had its campy moments but there were quite a few that were incredibly effective at building tension and getting me on the edge of my seat. As I say in the video, the final "twist" on both the main character and the viewer was a real gut punch that I quite liked.
  10. You know what, here are the moves I'd make based on tonight: Cracknell, Kenins, Biega, Fedun to Utica. Vey on waivers. 22, 33, 17, 47, 53, 77, 14, 51, 36, 50, 21, 15 up front. 9 as the extra, 20 on injured reserve. 23, 8, 2, 44, 5, 6, 26, and 60 as the eight defensemen. Figuring out who plays from that group... That's a bit of a mess. If they would rather have Hutton logging top minutes in Utica, and I'm leaning that way a bit myself, then send him down and don't bother putting Higgins on IR.
  11. Daniel - Henrik - Vrbata Baertschi - Horvat - Virtanen Burrows - McCann - Hansen Gaunce - Sutter - Dorsett Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Bartkowski Hutton - Weber If only those lines had a real chance of happening.
  12. No. Corrado plays a quiet defensive game, similar to Tanev. Plus, he's better off as the 6th/7th guy in the NHL right now. I'm really irritated because I think they've somewhat stunted his development by not letting him carry the momentum from his final season of junior straight into the NHL. I want Hutton on the team, but only if it gets rid of Sbisa. Otherwise, let him log top pairing minutes in Utica. Someone will get injured soon enough, he's going to get NHL games this season. Plus, it's not worth it to give up the depth option of Corrado to get Hutton in. As for McCann/Virtanen, it should be McCann on the team. Virtanen has all the physical abilities to play in the NHL right now, but I don't think he's thinking the game on the same level. I've seen him attempt a few plays that were completely junior level, and they've backfired. McCann is showing a solid defensive game, and he's carrying the load offensively right now. Benning is hellbent on giving Jake a roster spot though, which concerns me.
  13. McCann and Hutton have 8 points, the rest of the team combined has 10. That's not good.
  14. Welcome to the NHL, Jared McCann.
  15. The goalie graveyard existed in part because they kept acquiring shitty goalies.
  16. Working in an industry for years doesn't guarantee you know more than someone else. I'm not saying I know more than him about Sutter, but Benning is either willingly oblivious to certain players' flaws (I mean... LUCA SBISA!) or he actually doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.
  17. Exactly. What's been absolutely infuriating is Benning has gone on and on about all these things Sutter has done, and based on everything I've seen of him it's almost as if Benning never watched him play before.
  18. How about don't read the thread if you don't want to see people with different opinions than you? I don't slob all over Jimbo's knob like you.
  19. It was a terrible trade from the get-go. I was never a fan of acquiring Sutter, even going back to the initial Kesler to PIT rumours. $4.3M for conceivably the fourth line centre. Henrik Sedin is Henrik Sedin, and Bo Horvat and Jared McCann have outplayed just about everyone else in the pre-season.
  20. "Foundational piece" Brandon Sutter.
