RIGA, Latvia - An independent hockey research laboratory named MakeItReign headed by Dr Janis Zeptenbergs, of the famous nose and moustache, has been hard at work in the last 24 hours crunching the numbers of the S61 VHL Entry Draft. The results, while not yet published, are bound to cause a stir throughout the VHL.
"We're still in shock over how the Bears in particular could make such poor decisions under pressure," one MakeItReign analyst was quoted as saying. "It is one thing to pick Matt Thompson and Roger Sterling in the 1st round considering all the fairly clear medical issues surrounding them, but to do so ahead of clearly superior players in the same position [Podrick Cast/Edwin Preencarnacion and Arvid Aamo] is absolutely criminal. We will be writing to the league headquarters stating our concern over the suitability of GM Blake Campbell for a high-ranking role in an international hockey league."
The team of researchers has gone through several pages of randomly generated numbers and symbols and has come to the conclusion that not only did the Riga Reign come away as clear draft winners, but also possibly the clearest draft winners in the history of mankind. Particular attention has been paid to the unfathomable double steal of Jesper Stromberg and Mikka Pajari - 2 bonafide superstars in the making somehow forgotten about by an entire league, from GMs to commissioners.
"We don't want to alarm anyone but preliminary findings suggest this draft will have shockwaves reverberating throughout the VHL for many years to come," Dr Zeptenbergs said. "Seattle in particular has set itself back for at least 8 seasons by our conservative estimates."
