  3. Jordan Cousins much preferred the quiet country life as opposed to the big cities and the flashing lights. Jordan doesn't like the big games, he doesn't like fans mobbing him, and he doesn't like analysis speculating about him. Because of his overwhelming and almost impossible shyness, Cousins was drafted 29th overall in the VHLM Dispersal Draft by the Bern Royals. And when most kids who are drafted late in a draft, Jordan didn't make a big deal about it and didn't even look that relieved. He put on a bad fake smile and donned the Bern jersey and went backstage, less than eager to answer questions from the reporters who still lurked around. "Um yeah, it feels good to be drafted..." Jordan mumbled just loud enough to hear. He found it silly, what answer were they looking for? Did they expect him to say I am very upset to be drafted? Jordan Cousins, a native of Ottawa that didn't and still doesn't know a word of Swiss has been threw into the heavy fire and is averaging 25 minutes a night for the Bern Royals and is a -4, only better than teammate Henrik Hedman. Most hockey analysts have least than favorable opinions about Cousins and when being asked about if it gets to him, he simply answered, "Let them say what they want to say." That answer really represents what Cousins is all about. At the age of 14 he was cut off the Competitive 'AAA' team and the 'A' team and was a weak player of the 'B' team. At 15, he broke his leg and the doctors said he'd never be able to skate again, much less play hockey at a high level. But the defense man didn't listen, he trained and trained and trained, and hurt himself greatly in the process. Now every time he skates, his left leg feels so bad it's almost enough for Jordan to step off the ice. Almost. He refused to be beaten and is quite persistent when it comes to the trainers begging him not to play and those are the qualities many fans and teammates have come to admire despite his lack of star power. However, lately his quality of play has been really dipping. "My leg? Yeah, yeah, it hurts... It might be affecting my play, I don't know... Listen, I don't know anything anymore." Jordan said to some nosy reporters and elected to leave the interview as soon as possible. Cousins has been quite irritated at the Swiss press as he can't actually communicate with them properly. He tries to do hand gestures but the press usually interpreted it incorrectly and it causes a big disagreement. Despite this, Swiss fans have warmed up to Cousins and are finding his obliviousness quite delightful and amusing. One day he's like a baby panda to the press and the next he's like a warrior with ice skates, clearing traffic in front of the net, blocking shots and throwing his body around. 501 words 2753 characters
