  1. 1. I've been invited to a couple parties with my girlfriend, and my parents are also having one. I'm trying to go to my parents, but we haven't quite decided where were heading yet. 2. Just get some points on the board, you know. Nothing crazy, just don't do nothing the whole season. 3. Im hoping for around 15 points, maybe 20 if im lucky. Im on pace for about 24 right now, but that will most likely slow down? Ask 3 1. Hows the start to your season? Is it going any different then expected? 2. Do you watch NHL games/follow it closely? What are your thoughts on your favorite team so far? 3. What build are you aiming for your player? Do you feel youve achieved that build so far?
  2. I was able to speak with Houston Bulls forward and S97 draft pick, Alex Bridges IV, for a quick period of time today. He is 5 games into his rookie season and has 3 points in the 5 games Houston has under their belt so far. Of those 3 points, not one of them is a goal. We briefly spoke with Alex to see how he was going to get that first goal, and if its effected him in any way so far throughout the season. I'll recap what he said below: - It has not effected him at all and he is still hungry for wins, and being a good teammate. - He knows it will come eventually and to just keep working at it. - Although he is excited, he is also content having 3 points in 5 games. I think this shows a great deal of character from the young rookie, and gives us a flash of what his future holds. Definitely a bright spot and someone to look out for VERY soon. Word Count 173
  3. I noticed this trend for one reason, and one reason only - my player is currently listed for Italy as his birthplace. As I was doing the trivia, which involved birthplace HOF'ers, I saw some countries had very few players created for them in general. The Dominican Republic only has 7 players made for them in history. Thats equal to about one being made every 13 or 14 seasons. This brought my own selection of birthplace to my attention. I wondered how good Italy has done in the past. Lets look further into it. After doing a bit of research on my own a couple of minutes ago, I surprisingly saw that there are only 40 players who were born in Italy that are currently retired. When I looked at earning and how well they did in their career, I noticed that there were only 3 of the retired players above 1000 TPE, and 8 above 500 TPE (one being Alex Bridges III). This means that 7.5% of retired Italy players hit 1000 TPE, and 20% got over 500 TPE. I then looked at CURRENT players that were born out of Italy, and I was shocked. There were 8 players currently active since S89! This is about 1 player made every season. In comparison to the retired players, who had one player made every 2.3 seasons, this was a huge leap for Italy. I also noticed that of those 8 players, 2 of them were above 1000 TPE, this means 25% had above 500 and 1000 TPE. Its pretty impressive to see how well Italy has been doing within the last 10 seasons, and I wondered why all the sudden have they increased their performance off the boat? The next thing I wondered was, is this a trend in the VHL in general? Do people want to make better players overall? Lets figure that out too. I'm going to select a random country, Denmark, we'll go with that. Ill analyze their past and present, and compare them to see if Italy is just producing hockey machines all the sudden, or if this is a trend in the VHL in general. Starting off, Denmark has 31 retired players. The data also showed 5 of their players were above 1000 TPE, and 7 above 500 TPE. This means that 16% of Denmark players hit 1000 TPE, and 22% hit 500 TPE. This is better than Italy's stats over history, so now lets check their current players, which will prove if Italy is in its prime right now, or not. The stats showed that theres were only 3 current players born out of Denmark, and none have surpassed 300 TPE yet. This is interesting because over history, Denmark had about 1 player every 3 seasons, and there has been 3 players in the last 8 seasons for Denmark currently active. This means that my data has been accurate so far. With this data, I can come to a pretty suggestive conclusion that Italy is indeed producing a mass amount of talent right now, and are on the rise as a VHL manufacturing country. There is most likely no reason, and I can always do more data examples with new countries - so stay tuned for those. Word Count 541

    Games: 1-10

Game 2 Recap [] Philadelphia Reapers @ Halifax 21st [] This was a low scoring game which had a combined goal count of only three goals! The Reapers got their first win on the season when they got the only 3rd period goal, giving them a 2-1 lead in their S97 debut. I think this is two highly skilled teams competing for an early season win, and should not be taken as a indicator of how their whole season will go. Goals came from the following players, in order: Inker Belle [1], Jackson Jeannot [1], Jakub Kovar [1]. Assists came from the following players, in order: Pelayo Bolivar [1], Michael Lee Jr [1], Jacob Seed [1], Bazooka Joe [1], Carlos Sainz [1], Adam Joy [1]. Goalie stats shown below, the winning goalie is on top: Louis Burley (PHI) 25/26 (.962 SV%) || 1-0-0 Chad Powers (HFX) 25/27 (.926 SV%) || 0-1-0 Overall, both goalies played extremely well in the bout, and I'd say both were the MVP for their own respective teams. 5. Well, I'm writing this a bit late, as season 97 has already kicked off, but I do have some goals and standards that I plan to hit this season to ensure that my player has the highest level development as possible. These goals will include statistical marks, awards, build plans, etc. It truly will just be a guide for myself on how to string along my player. Starting off, I want to play in the WJC S97 tournament for Team Europe this offseason. It would mean a lot being a rookie and already being selected to play with the upcoming stars of the league. Just coming off a gold medal with Asia as a GM, I want to help Europe get back into the swing of things after a bronze medal finish in S96. This is gonna be my main goal for this season, and I believe its pretty achievable. Secondly, I wanna score around .35 PPG for my rookie season in the M. This would mean if I play all 72 games this season - which I also do plan on - id finish with about 25 points to my name. Obviously this is nothing special, and most definitely achievable, but hey, stuff happens. Considering I'm already 2 games in and have 1 point, things are going according to plan so far! Thirdly, if that's a word, I set myself a big goal which is achievable, but is gonna be challenging. I'm currently ranked 12th in all of S98 prospects, and I want to get into the top 8 of all S98 prospects. I am earning more capped TPE than the 4 people ahead of me, and if I'm feeling bold, I might even go for top 7 - who knows. Anyways, top 8 is the main goal, and with consistent earning like I've been doing so far, I want to hit the top 8 club. Fourthly, I want to make it to playoffs. If you look at my team, the Houston Bulls, we have a pretty solid roster - and were already 2-0. With that being said, this wouldn't be too much of a challenge, more of an expectancy. Therefore, I wanna win at least one playoff series, if not two. This will kick off a great start to my young career, and provide a case as to why I'm a winning player and lead me straight into the VHL draft. Once again, this is a team goal and not a personal goal, but I feel if I can contribute enough, it will turn into a personal goal as well. Last but not least, we have a VERY big challenge coming in. I'm still getting used to the new rules, as the last time I had a player was S89 and I was barely active. The VHLE was still a thing, so I believe now that the cap for the M is 400? I'm currently earning 14 TPE a week at minimum, and I want this to be an extremely successful build. I did some calculations and it seems the average season is about 4 weeks long, playoffs take another 2 weeks, and then the offseason is about another 2-3 weeks. That being said, over the course of this season I can earn around 115-125 TPE, and get myself up to 230-240 TPE. With all the uncapped TPE possible, and training camp - im setting the goal for me to be at 265 TPE by the start of next season. Word Count 577
  6. This was most definitely a hectic point in my VHL/M career. Right around Christmas time, my first time actually running STHS and seeing how it plays. It was just a the whole motion for me. It started out with Sam dropping a huge list of players for each country/area, and I was in doubt as I saw what I was working with compared to USA, Canada, and Europe. It was pretty clear their selection was far greater then mine was. Eventually after tons of sorting, researching, and asking hundreds of questions to Sam (sorry @samx) - I finally assembled a roster and had my lines submitted when I was done with the draft. My goal when heading in was to have an active team, which never really happened until the semi-final and further, but that's okay. Anyways, we went through the round robin games, Asia was playing as expected - bottom of the barrel. We got to our "play-in game" and we just barely squeaked by the other disadvantaged team, team World. We had already beat Canada once in round play, but we had to face them in the semi-finals. I knew this was gonna be one of the toughest tasks we faced this tournament, yet stayed hopeful. I check the sim, WE WON! It was a scary game, but we pulled through. I then saw the dreadful USA team. The hockey powerhouse was the last obstacle for a small Asia hockey community. The only reason I really had hope was because of our win against Canada (twice). Nonetheless, we won that game, and I helped lead Asia to their first ever WJC gold medal tournament. I could not be more proud of the boys who played for me, as we took USA into overtime in the gold medal game, and won it. This was a 10/10 experience and a great way to kick off my managing career. 7. Glad I could help make #3 possible buddy! Best of luck with the other 2!
  8. 1. Well, I only have one. So I guess if were talking awards, it would be my Victory Cup with Calgary in S75. 2. Definitely helps if you're just active and maxing out. Best way to make your player and user known. 3. I think its honestly fairly easy, if you want it to be. If youre trying to be super specific with your choice, could be tougher. Ask 3 1. How was your Christmas? Did you get anything exciting? 2. Im a Sabres fan. We went on a 13 game losing streak recently. How do you view the Sabres, are they the laughing stock of the league? 3. Are you gonna stay up for New Years? Have any special traditions?

  11. Didn’t even realize I did this. I’ll fix it later and resubmit.
  12. Great to hear, you'll still be a winger during this because its your build from around the end of last season - but were glad to have you either way!
  13. 1st Overall Mikko Tuomala - Saskatoon Wild Already a super good defensive-defender and I think he has a bright future in the league. Was it worth the #1 pick? He fell to the #11 pick in the VHL draft, maybe that says something about the pick and where he truly should have went. He has had some inconsistent earning weeks, but that's probably a good thing for Saskatoon, as they will have him for a longer time possibly. I'd say this is a "B" - not sure he was #1 worthy, but if they're going for a rebuild, he might have been a solid option for them down the line. 2nd Overall Kazuma Satou - Las Vegas Aces #2 overall in the VHLM draft, AND the VHL draft. A defensive-defenseman who has a good pair of legs and knows how to skate pretty well. The highest TPE player coming into the draft, yet not the highest pick. SUPER consistent earner, always caps out. Love this pick, if they have a good contending team, this will be a great pick for them. Ill give this one a "A-" rating, expected, yet really only gonna have him for one season at most. Good player overall. 3rd Overall Jack Jack - Houston Bulls Jack is, once again, a defensive-defenseman. Why is the trend heading towards defenders who aim to be solid defenders? I'm not quite sure - but it is. Anyways, Jack Jack will be returning to Houston after he had 19 points in 72 games his entry season (S96). Should be a pretty solid returning player for Houston. I'd give this a "B-" - I like they stuck with a returning player who was solid for them. 4th Overall Cardinal Copia - San Diego Marlins Cardinal Copia, thank you. The first player off the board who hasn't fit the defensive-defenseman build, and boy am I relieved. He played 20 games last season, in his entry season. He tallied 2 points throughout these games. Looks to be a true playmaker, but struggles skating and puck handling. We'll see if he is worth the pick, so far looking good - being a solid earner. I'd say this is a "B+" - currently could be helpless without skating, but has the potential to dominate the league later in his build. 5th Overall Pepe Silvia - Mexico City Kings Andddd BOOM! We have a goalie off the board in the top 5. Pepe put up a 91.7% save percentage his last season, playing 20 games. From the statline, he looks like an extremely solid guy to have between the pipes, and I LOVE this pick from Mexico City, as he'll be their main goalie this season. Im gonna give this an "A" - I flat out love everything about this pick. 6th Overall Elisa McMuffin - Ottawa Lynx Solid defenseman, still early in his build. Not much to say about this one but considering Ottawa currently has 3 defenseman (and one is 60 TPE) - I think this is a reasonable selection from the team management here. We'll see if it does pay off for them down the line or not. Giving this a "B+" rating, below average earner meaning he will be on the team for a while, but has a pretty solid build going for himself at the moment. 7th Overall Toby Bob - Saskatoon Wild Solid defenseman, still early in his build. Not much to say about this one but considering Ottawa currently has 3 defenseman (and one is 60 TPE) - I think this is a reasonable selection from the team management here. We'll see if it does pay off for them down the line or not. I'd give this a "B" rating, as there's some solid potential. but currently nothing too crazy. Also a pretty good earner. Word Count: 621

  16. Bridges IV was spoken to by media after being taken 23rd overall (3rd round) in the S97 dispersal draft by the Houston Bulls. Media: "Alex, how do you feel about the Houston Bulls and what they have going?" Bridges IV: "I couldn't be more happy with the new home, and I cant wait to get started on the upcoming season." Media: "Do you feel you should've gone higher in the draft?" Bridges IV: "I mean, yea. What else is there to say? I know I'm better than MULTIPLE people taken in that second round, and ill prove to those other GMs - the mistake they made passing on me." Media: "If you could say one thing to all the GMs who passed on you, what would you say?" Bridges IV: "I have the receipts saved, now I just have to return the favor during the season. Best of luck stopping me." Media: "Two more questions here Alex, why do you think teams passed on you?" Bridges IV: "Maybe its my personality, the draft interviews, my family legacy - who knows? The past is the past, I'm not here to reflect, I'm here to dominate." Media: "Interesting to hear. Finally, what would you say your biggest goal is on Houston?" Bridges IV: "Definitely pick up some wins, but I wanna prove to everyone, and Jacob [Houston's GM] that I'm a competitor and I want to win." Media: "Thank you for your time Alex, good luck with the season." Word Count: 247
  17. 1: Im most excited to actually play haha. Been a long offseason with no team. 2: In real life, ive been stressing so bad. So much homework, giftshopping, sports, etc etc. Way too much. 3: I love them all, doing a great job so far! 4: Hibachi is always sooooo good. I love the noodle thingies (yea I forgot what their called, boohoo.) 5: I got the notification I was drafted and peaked in, pretty solid feeling. Thats about all I did for it though. 6: Obviously having an eye for talent is the general answer, but that means just being able to sort out who the bad options are from the jump. As long as its not a bust, I think it doesnt matter if theyre average, good, or great. Just dont blow the pick completely.
  18. Except the part where you traded me.
  19. 1: I would say a nice lifted truck with a bed filled with $100 bills would be the ideal gift this year, we'll see if Santa delivers. 2: I might chip in a couple dollars. I'm a high school student going into college so money isn't really my hotspot right now, but I do try and give whenever I can. 3: Easy. Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, and Leonardo DiCaprio. They're all super interesting guys and I think it would be a pretty enjoyable time lol. My Questions 1: What's your favorite book that you read in school, and why? 2: If you had to be a fan of a new NHL team, which team would you choose and why? 3: What's your favorite kind of soup? Does your answer change with the season or is it a year round favorite?
  20. Some would say Ahsoka Tano is the clear rookie of the year in the VHL. Some would argue that statement for days. I'm not here to pick a side, but instead, give you an unbiased view on the candidate. Drafted 5th overall by the Helsinki Titans, Tano had high expectations heading into his rookie season. Coming out of the VHLE, he had over a PPG as a defenseman, which is pretty impressive. He was traded to Seattle halfway through the season with a solid stat line in hand already. In 47 games with Helsinki, he totaled 43 points. He was traded for a S98 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, and Sunset Moth (579 TPE). He then played another 26 games with Seattle and gained 14 points. This brought him to 57 points in 73 games by the end of season - leading all rookies by multiple points. Without a doubt, Tano has been, and will continue to be, one of the best players in his class currently, and there's no denying that. He has shown he shines when the spotlight is on him, and doesn't back down from any challenges. Has he done enough to earn rookie of the year though? ( @Aimee ) Word Count: 200
  21. The last name "Bridges" has surfaced the VHLM, VHLE, and VHL multiple times. Many know of certain players from the family, but not all. Today, were gonna dive deep into the family history and explore what has made such a confusing timeline for this squad. It all started with Alex Bridges, in S69. He was the first of his generation to ever touch the ice, and boy was he good. Bridges tore up the VHLM playing 3 seasons, 198 games, and racking up 239 points. That makes out to be 1.2 PPG throughout all 3 seasons combined. He was drafted to the VHL at the #19 spot, by Seattle. Before he even got a second on VHL ice, he was traded from Seattle, to HC Davos. His first year with Davos, he had 26 points in 72 games. Up to this point, he was a forward. Following the underwhelming season, he made a switch to defense. At the same time, brand new expansion team - the Warsaw Predators - took him in the expansion draft. Bridges had been on 3 VHL teams with only 1 season under his belt. With all the pressure, he did not disappoint. Alex had his peak year his sophomore season, with 86 points in 72 games as a defenseman. Alex would then play half a season with Warsaw, tallying 35 points in 37 games, get traded to Calgary, put up 20 points in 35 games, and get buried on their depth chart. Bridges would play one more season with Calgary - tallying only 32 points in 72 games, while winning the Victory cup. He then hung up the skates. His son, Alex Bridges II, would play only one season of professional hockey. He had a brief stint with the Yukon Rush in S77. He played all 72 games, and had a measly 27 points. He gave up before it even started. Then came along Alex Bridges III. Determined by his grandfathers legacy, he wanted to prove his worth. He would play 2 seasons in the VHLM with Halifax and Philadelphia. In these 2 seasons, he averaged .83 PPG with 96 points in 116 games. He got drafted 35th overall to the VHLE, where he played for Stockton for 3 seasons. In these 3 seasons, he gathered up 192 points in 216 games. This amounts to around .89 PPG. He was then drafted 41st overall in the VHL draft, where he would only play 2 seasons. He would have 21 points in 72 games his first season, and 22 in 72 the next. His VHL career never quite took off like his grandfathers did, yet was also short lived. We now have Alex Bridges IV, who is currently the most talented prospect out of this family we have seen, with the most potential by far. He is currently a VHLM free agent waiting to play his first game, yet is top 10 in his draft class. How will he pan out? We also can see that there was relatives of the famous Alex Bridges family chain that had short lived VHLM careers. Drew Bridges, brother of the original Alex Bridges, played one season for Mexico City in S72, getting 3 points in 72 games. Blake Bridges, cousin to Alex Bridges and Drew Bridges, also played in S72. He was more successful then Drew, where he played 3 seasons in the VHLM - for Saskatoon and Mexico City. He would play 216 games, and gather up 122 points, for about .56 PPG during his career. Overall, the Bridges family legacy has been quite average, yet a young, dangerous, talented prospect is on the rise for the family, hoping to revive the family legacy, once and for all.
