  1. Jorgen Von Strangle RW | 6' 3" | 213 lb. | Age: 17 | Born originally in downtown Fairy World, Jorgen immigrated to Germany at the age of 15 to pursue his passion for hockey. Bursting onto the professional stage competing in the DEL for 2 seasons Jorgen walked away with a goal scoring title, playoff MVP award and a DEL championship in his final season. Looking to prove that he has what it takes to move forward Jorgen is looking to take his talents to the VHLM and participated in the junior showcase tournament. In his 12 showcase games Jorgen put up 3 goals and 4 assists with an average of 18.75 minutes per game. Along with contributing offensively Jorgen had more takeaways then giveaways and finished his 12 games as a +6 while being on a team who struggled defensively. While the sample size is limited, it appears that Von Strangle will be a valuable 2-way contributor in his career. Pros Defence: Standing at 6'3'' Jorgen takes full advantage of his reach and height. He is not afraid to get into puck battles in the corners and it's not often you will see him lose one. His defensive play style makes him a puck possession machine and only helps him get the puck out of his zone and into the opponents net. Along with proper development he should be a coaches dream as he moves up in his career. Shooting: As a result of his long reach and massive muscles Jorgen has a stunner of a one timer. He looks to take advantage of scoring opportunities all over the ice. It doesn't matter what the scenario is, as long as he has a clean shot he will take it. Combined with his high puck possession numbers, Jorgen sends multiple pucks on net every game. This combination of powerful and high volume shooting is a goalies worst nightmare. Cons Fighting: Due to his large frame many people are surprised to hear that one of Jorgens weaknesses is fighting. Despite his intimidating appearance and willingness to participate in puck battles, he is often unwilling to fight in games. When he does choose to drop the hits his punches appear uncoordinated and lazy. It appears fighting is something he has no interest in and we should expect that to remain the same going forward. Von Strangle appears to be a motivated young prospect who wants to establish himself in the league as one of the greatest 2-way forwards in to ever do it. Only time will tell if he is successful but it is certainly a goal that many teams will find appealing to have on their roster.
  2. 1. I think the team performed well. We had one of the better goal differentials in the tournament and with a bit of puck-luck we could have had much better results. Von Strangle had his moments but I'm looking to see much more from my player come the playoffs. 2. I am pumped for the draft, 10/10. Can't wait to join the VHLM and help contribute to some deep championship runs. 3. I think we have a pretty good chance. Like I said I think the puck wasn't bouncing our way during the group stage but I think that luck will turn around soon. We have a great team and a great chance to make a deep run. 4. I've been preaching defence since our first few losses. We're usually outshooting our opponents but we still let in more goals which shouldn't be happening. If we can tighten up defensively we are the best team in this tournament. 5. Ya, they don't have a chance against us. Their overconfidence will be their downfall. We will surprise a lot of people. 6. Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. I also really love how the league feels competitive but not toxic, that's a big plus for me whenever it comes to things that are sports related.
  3. You're graphic looks very clean. If I saw this anywhere else I would absolutely still think it was a suit ad. My favourite touch is the shadow behind your player which is a small touch but just adds even more to the graphic. The lion background is noticeable but not in your face, which I also like. I don't think there is anything I would change, you hit the nail on the head with this one. Rating: 10/10
  4. Gotta respect the legends. Love the photo you used and transparent ones in the back. The yellow background really makes the graphic pop. Would have been nice to have a Seattle Bears logo photoshopped in somewhere. Overall well done! Rating: 8.5/10
  5. It appears some big questions need to be answered for the Steel in goal. Although it appears they have committed to Thomas Price as their starter, Wiley Blanchette has emerged as one of the best goalies in the showcase. Coming in relief during the second and third games for the Steel, Blanchette has already faced 37 shots in 64 minutes of play. In his time in net he has only conceded 2 goals, one in each game. In his limited time in goal Blanchette has been a clear X-factor immediately when he comes into the game. With a .943 save percentage and 1.88 goals against average he has posted by far the best numbers of any goalie in the showcase, although in a much smaller sample size. It seems that by these metrics it is only a matter of time before Blanchette gets an opportunity to prove he can be a starter. The only question that remains is if Blanchette will be able to handle the pressure when all the eyes are on him or will he fall back to earth and remain the backup for the Steel? 188 Words
  6. The start of this junior showcase tournament has certainly been a sight to behold. From the high-octane offence to the gritty rivalries beginning to take shape, the first 4 games of the showcase have been nothing short of exhilarating. It is clear that each of these teams has come in to prove that they are not going to be pushed around. Of everything that happened the penalties are certainly going to be the main talking point for most teams heading forward in the tournament. With an average of 223 penalty minutes per game, the first 4 games of the showcase have totalled to 892 penalty minutes. With what seems like an entire seasons worth of penalty minutes there were obviously a few punches thrown. However, despite all the fighting not much was ever resolved. The vast majority of fights ended in ties and the leader in fights won was Zaza Colors of the Steel with 2 victories. Seeming to only care about having to a dance partner, Wattson Power also of the Steel, lead the league in fights tied with a total of 5. And in the competition for the biggest losers in our first games of the showcase we have Sullian O Julivan (Warriors), Eric Carsen (Warriors) and Jorgen Von Strangle (Steel) each with 2 loses under their belts. And last but certainly not least, we have a tie for our leaders in penalty minutes and total fights. At the top of each category we have 2 hard-nosed defensemen who have showed they are not going to get pushed around this tournament. Scotty Schultz (Royals) and Wattson Power (Steel) have made their presence felt on the ice each accumulating 50 penalty minutes and 6 fights in 4 games. The rest of the league should certainly take note to keep their heads up when these two are on the ice. Although it was exciting, going into the next set of games GMs will need to instil discipline into their teams if they want to be successful going forward. From a press conference released by the Steels AGM Minion it was asked to the players: “After the first sims we had a lot of fights, how to you think we could have fewer fights and minutes in the Box”. Some players took this to heart, clearly showing that the penalties were something that they were not happy about in the teams game. Mikael Mursu was extremely animated stating: “Discipline. We lost our sh*t too easy when they were provoking us”. While other players were not as bothered by the lack of discipline such as Masu Chan who stated: “ The fighting wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. We came into the league and made sure other teams understood that we wouldn’t be pushed around. We showed our fangs these two games. Now it’s time to focus on winning and scoring goals”. It seems that some internal team discussions need to be had to determine how they want to play as a team. Although we have had a gritty start to the tournament there has been plenty of flashes of brilliance from stars in the showcase. All these penalty minutes have given the stars lots of ice time on the power play. However, many teams have failed to capitalize on their opportunities. It seems the most successful team on the power play have been the Steel. Along with having the most power play goals thus far, they also have the 3 top ranking skaters in terms of power play points. Sitting at the top of the leaderboard with 2 power play points each Bradley Buzzer, Gunnarwolfe Vomacka and Zaza Colors have been solid contributors to an already powerful Steel offence. If the Steel can continue to produce on special teams, they should certainly be a team to look out for in the tournament. So we have had lots of high scoring games but relatively slow power plays, so where have all the goals come from? The obvious answer would be during even strength, which is correct, however if we take a look at the score sheets we can notice that the top left wingers of the Royals, Brigade and Steel have dominated the tournament thus far. Matt Avens (Royals), Austin Towbaker (Brigade) and Gunnarwolfe Vomacka (Steel) have combined for 15 goals (5 each). The production of these players in their first 2 games has accounted for an astounding 24.5% of the entire tournaments goals. This means that in a tournament filled with exciting young prospects, almost a quarter of the goals have come from the same 3 players. They have certainly shown up for their teams and given scouts something to notice. Don’t be surprised to see these players stay at the top of the leaderboards as we continue along in this tournament. While watching the tournament you can’t help but notice there is plenty of fresh talent looking to make a name for themselves before draft day. However, there has been one clear standout in the first couple games. Tied for the league lead in goals and leading the league with 6 assists Gunnarwolfe Vomacka has a had an inspired start to his tournament. Producing 9 points in his rookie debut against the Warriors and contributing on both of his teams goals in their second game against the Warriors it is no surprise that he leads the league in points, and it is not close at the moment. Gunnarwolfe Vomacka has had a blistering start to his career and looks to be the tournaments way to early to predict MVP frontrunner. After taking a look at all the flashy stats, lets take a look at some of the players flying under the radar so far. Despite only producing 3 points, William Groves of the Brigade is managing to sit in 6th for point per 20 minutes. Perhaps it may be time for a boost in ice time for the young left-winger to see if he can match this production with more opportunity. We also tend to overlook defensemen since they usually don’t show up on the score sheet as often as the forwards. Leading the league with a +5 in the giveaway/takeaways category, Biggie Cheese of the Royals has proven to be a great defensive asset to his team. Certainly something for scouts to look out for if they are seeking a prospect to shore up their defence. With so much more tournament to go we can only wait and see how everything will unfold. The only thing we know so far is that we have been treated to a tournament unlike any other before which is sure to continue going forward. 1100 words
  7. 1. It was definitely an exciting game for the fans. Lots of goals and lots of punches thrown. Unfortunately we came out even on the day but I know our team has way more room to grow. I was happy with how i used my minutes in the first game, only getting into one fight, which was relatively low for that game. I was also able to get 2 takeaways during my time on ice and didn't concede a giveaway. I wanted to keep that going into the second game but it seems like tensions boiled over and I ended up with more time in the box than on the ice. I'll have to make sure to keep a levelled head to help our team succeed going forward. 2. With all the fighting it seems like rivalries are heating up quickly in this showcase tournament. There no doubt that whichever team can keep their cool will win it all. Discipline is something we'll all have to think about tonight so that we can make a strong run in this tournament. 3. Since Jorgen Von Strangle grew up in Fairy World he actually grew up a few worlds away from the grim reaper. By that it only seems natural that Jorgen would find his way onto the Philadelphia Reapers at some point of his VHLM career. 4. I think this is a fantastic addition! Really gives the guys some extra motivation to be the best teammate they can be. I will definitely participate if I am lucky enough to be chosen for it. 5. Nothing will impress a scout more than winning and we all know you can't do that alone. I have no plans to change how I play for the scouts, you just have to let all the winning do the talking for you. 6. If I could create a second player I would name them Mike Hawk and they would play D (Obviously). He'll have a wicked one-timer from the point, nobody will be able to handle the power of Mike Hawk!
  8. Super ambitious graphic. It's got a whole lot going on but I'm all for it. I love the pixelated player in the background, It's giving me flashbacks to NHL 94 on the SNES. Everything else looking clean from the font to the jersey swap. It's so all over the place but works so well. Nice job! Rating: 9/10
  9. Gotta love a graphic for the best team in the junior showcase! The jersey swaps are some of the best I've seen so far. The white outline on the players is a nice touch as well, really separates them from the background. Clearly a team with a GM who knows what they're doing. Rating: Easy 10/10
  10. Originally born in Fairy World, Jorgen was a fairy to behold. Coming out of the womb standing 6 feet 3 inches tall, 213 pounds, Jorgen was destined for greatness. As a child Jorgen would skate circles around all the other fairies waiting for his chance to go pro. He would play all day and night to impress his friends and his crush, the tooth fairy. The showboating seemed to work as the tooth fairy took notice. They have been together ever since. Finally at 14 years old Jorgen took the MHL (Magical Hockey League) by storm in his rookie season. His impressive rookie campaign caught the eye of some scouts from the FHF (Fairy Hockey Federation) and he became the youngest fairy to ever play for the international team. Along with this impressive record, Jorgen captained the fairies to their first win against the pixies in 3 centuries and defeated the anti-fairies in an 8-game summit series, scoring 5 game winning goals in the process. However, after leading the MHL in goals and assists Jorgen knew he would need to face stronger competition if he was gonna make it to the show. By 15 Jorgen had multiple contract offers from around the world but decided to begin his career in Germany with the Fischtown Pinguins of the DEL. Due to her busy work schedule, Jorgen had to leave the tooth fairy behind but promised to be back once he won a VHL championship. Over the next 2 years he dominated the DEL with his devastating one-timers. In his final season he lead the league in goals and won playoff MVP on route to winning the championship with the Fischtown Pinguins. Jorgen is now looking to take the next steps into his professional career by taking his talents to the VHL and fulfilling his promise to the tooth fairy. As a player Jorgens Physical build is quite deceiving. His massive muscles serve him well as a deceptively quick skater and strong shooter. However don't be fooled by his nickname "Enforcer of Da Rules", Jorgen is actually a huge softy. He only has one career fight which was against cosmo. However it wasn't on the ice. Cosmo was heckling Jorgen from the stands and the rest is history. It was never officially ruled as a fighting major but it has been kept on record since, no more cosmo in the arena. With some more practice, and a bit of magic, Jorgen can certainly be a force to be reckoned with in the VHL.
  11. I love the retro vibe to this! Everything looks very clean and the colours work great together. The jersey edit is perfect too! The shapes in the background remind me of the carpets in the Bowlerama I used to go to as a kid, which made me incredibly nostalgic. Only thing I'd change is making the HC Davos Dynamo text a bit less transparent. Amazing job overall! Rating: 9.5/10
  12. I really like the dark tone of the graphic, it fits very well with the information your presenting. I would have definitely preferred if the picture was the entire background for the graphic. The black bars around the image feel like un-used space and makes the purple font a bit hard to read. The jerseys in the image look well done, definitely keep doing what your doing there. Overall I think it works well together. Rating: 8/10
  13. what do you think about being drafted or signed to the steel? Do you like the teams so far? 1. Love the team and the enthusiasm from everyone in discord. The Steel has the best logo and now the best newcomer to the VHL, Jorgen Von Strangle. For those of you who are new, what do you think of the VHL so far? And for you older players, what’s you favorite part of the VHL? 2. I’ve only learned about the VHL in the last couple days and the community has been incredibly welcoming so far. Lots of great people, and a special shout out to minion for teaching me some basics of the league and getting me on my feet. If you could rename the steel what would you name the team? 3. If I could rename the steel I would name them the cosmos. What are you goals for you player in the showcase tournament? 4. Jorgen is looking to put up some major points in the showcase. Without a doubt he will be looking to show off his nasty one-timer from the top of the faceoff dot. Do you think the steels have what it takes to win the showcase? 5. With Jorgen on the team victory is already confirmed. Sam’s chicken nugget madness has found it way in to the discord. Do you like chicken Nuggets? And what’s the best dip for the chicken Nuggets? 6. Of course I like chicken nuggets, who doesn’t? You can’t really go wrong with nugget dipping sauces but I’d probably give the crown to honey mustard.
