Good morning Philadelphia! I'd like to apologize in advance if I spell anything wrong or there's any errors with this. I am writing it on my phone. Hope you all had a great day. It hasn't been long since I first suited up in a Reaper's jersey but I gotta say, it feels pretty great. The city is nice, my teammates are fun and the management is good. I even got my jersey number, forty-three, so I'm excited. I often check my own player page just to see that little Reaper logo beside my name. Going forty-fifth in the draft was a bit of a wake up call for sure. I had expected myself to be a higher pick. It just made me aware that I am behind a ton of players and that I need to step up my game. The only way people will only see me as a forty-fifth overall pick is if I don't improve. I want people to be like "That Mason guy shouldn't been at least a second round pick." and I hope it doesn't take long for those conversations to begin. It's easy to say the start of the season has been rough for the Reapers, we are going to be underdogs no doubt, but I urge other teams not to underestimate us. We have had a slow start, that goes without saying, but if you think of us as an easy win we'll make you pay. In the junior showcase tournament I was the Captain of an underdog team, known as the Steel. We pushed through and during the playoffs we were almost unstoppable making it to the final two teams in the tournament. I don't think it was a coincidence the Reaper's drafted me. I think they saw how I performed in the more high pressure games and that I could handle the role of being a Captain. This isn't just purely speculation either, as I have been named co-captain in my first season as a Reaper. Obviously I am aware that I am new to this league and I have a lot of tough competition. I still have a lot to learn but I have faith it's only a matter of time till I prove myself as a steal in the draft. I believe that the steps I have taken thus far are great, I began this season in the VMHL with two goals and two assists in seven games. It's not amazing but it's a start. It's not all bad however, in these early games I have been made aware of some of my weaknesses and will dedicate some training to the areas that I've been struggling in. To my teammates reading this, I want you to know that I believe in you. We will get through this rough patch, some of you are incredible goal scorers and I'll do my best to support each of you. If we each focus on the areas we struggle we will only get stronger with time. Keep your heads held high and prove yourself as a Reaper. To anyone else that reads this, thank you, and remember not to count us out just yet.

Philadelphia Reapers Press Conference
Masu Chan replied to BladeMaiden's topic in Team Press Conferences
1:I believe we will be a playoff contending team. 2:Mason Jones (Me) I was drafted 45th and I wish to prove myself as a steal. 3:Looking over the drafted players I believe we did really well in the draft. 4:I am a Canadian with a few friends in Texas. So I wouldn't mind visiting there. 5:Pizza. You get a lot and it has a ton of variety. 6:Dogs. All the cats I've had or my friend had were mean and didn't like to cuddle. 7:Personally my friend is on Saskatoon so I'm going to say them. We're both going to try our hardest when the other is on the ice so I feel it's spark more energy in both locker rooms when we play one another. 8:I prefer T.V. Shows. You have a longer time to get invested in the characters anx the story and relationships are often better developed. -
1:I felt I may have let down the team. I didn't put in enough effot in game Two and turned over the puck more times then I stole it away. I'm going to focus on my puckhandling and work on keeping possession on the puck. 2:The fighting wasn't necessarily a bad thing. We came into the league and made sure other teams understood that we wouldn't be pushed around. We showed our fangs these two games. Now it's time to focus on winning and scoring goals. 3:Mason Jones is an Ontario boy. He'd like to play for his hometown of Mississauga but wouldn't be disappointed in any team. 4:I'd be honored to win the Steel Blade MVP award. I feel If I focus on my passing a bit I'll be able to help the amazing goal scorers on the team and hold that Award one day soon. 5:Of course I want to show of a bit for the scouts. But the way I plan on showing off is by leading this team to the best of my ability and be aware of my weaknesses. Focusing on improving where I need to. 6:William Rally. He'd be a center. The reason is because he was a player I drafted in NHL 20 and had an awesome name.

Hello, my name is Masu Chan. I am a new player in the Victory Hockey League and was directed here from a video made by Adam Couser. To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect going into this, all he pointed out in his video is that you got to make a player and get drafted. I had no idea the league was run by humans and I didn't expect so much involvement. This is not a shot at Adam, I didn't expect him to actually play as he is a newer fan and I love his videos and highly recommend them. At first I was a bit nervous and hesitant, trying to remain as professional as I could and felt awkward when I tried to make a joke. Luckily though the people who were managing the Junior Showcase Tournament made me feel right at home, we had casual conversations and it was just like talking to some new friends. I figured I'd share the experience with one of my close friends and invited him to the league. We made a backstory for our characters together, his character being a large defender named JP and my character being a small left wing by the name of Mason Jones. So far we've had a ton of fun and hope to one day play for the same team. I wasn't sure how much work I'd put in at first, I figured I'd just do the practice facilities and take the welfare every month and watch how my character simmed. But the more I talked to the management of the Junior Showcase Tournament the more interesting and invested I became, it didn't even take a full day before I was hooked. I am now taking part in the first ever VHL junior showcase tournament as the first ever Captain of the Steel. An honor that I will not live down, hopefully the captains that follow behind me realize how special this experience is and bring the same honor to the Steel as I hope to. Like I have stated before, I want to contribute to this league and find cool ways to improve what the amazing people here have built in any way I can and I'm already fantasizing about one day running a VHL team as a GM. I have a long career ahead of me here and when it's all done I hope number 43 will hang from the rafters of the team I am lucky enough to be drafted to. To my knowledge this is the first Junior showcase tournament and may be the only one ever. Hopefully that's not the case, I want the Steel to live on, especially because the logo designed for it was my favorite. On Top of that the GM's in the J.S.T. really helped me understand and weren't afraid to make a newbie like me a captain to show their support for the Prospects. For those reading this, thank you. And for those who follow after me, good luck and welcome to the VHL.

Mason Jones is a twenty-two year old born and developed in the city of Mississauga. At the young age of six he began watching Hockey alongside his brother. His brother cheered for Toronto and Mason chose to be different, taking a liking to New Jersey because their logo was a 'J' and it reminded him of his last name. Mason began writing his name with the New Jersey 'J' until his teachers told him of the devil influence in the lettering and asked him not to do it anymore. Mason took a liking to the goalie position, having watched Martin Brodeur. Though he was never the biggest person in his class and rarely made saves when playing street hockey with his friends. One day some local kids wanted to join in their game and asked to play goalie. Mason was uncomfortable playing another position but allowed the new kids to try it. This is when Mason learned he had a knack for scoring goals and he received a lot more praise from his peers in his new role. Mason learned how to skate as a forward, using his previous experience as a goalie to teach his friend JP how to be better at a defensive role. Mason didn't have the height advantage for long on his younger friend. As JP turned ten he was already taller then Mason. There were times as they grew up that Mason had wished he was as tall as JP, knowing that most successful goalies were tall and wondered if he could've played goalie if he was just a few inches taller. Mason played four years of hockey in his highschool and was named the captain of his High School hockey team in his final year. His coaches and fellow teammates always praised him on his poise in high pressure situations and his determination to the sport. He might've not been the best on his team but he always showed up with a positive attitude and the desire to win. After his highschool playing career he wasn't offered a spot on any minor league teams but never stopped training. Playing in a beer league with his older Cousins team. He made it clear after two year in the league that he was the best and was destined for more. He saw that there were tryouts for the Victory Hockey League and immediately took an interest in the league, thinking this would be the competition he was looking for and give him the stage for him to showcase his skills. He accepted a spot in the Steel organization during the Junior Showcase Tournament. He chose the jersey number 43 as it was the number he used in sports games and in High school. Mason put in enough effort and was vocal enough to be named the Captain of the Junior team.

Good Evening VHLers. I'm new to the league having signed up less then 24 hours ago since this post was uploaded. My name is Masu Chan and I wish to make an impact on this league immediately. Change the culture and pitch some fun ideas while I'm here, and get some extra T.P.E. while doing so doesn't hurt, right? Speaking of which, the first idea I had, which I think would be fun and would also prevent the same number being retired multiple times from the same teams The New York Americans are a prime example of this, sorry to call out the Organization, but looking through the retired jersey numbers recently I've noticed that the same numbers show up retired a couple of times. I'm sure there are other teams with this issue, which is why I want to propose that players can change their profile pictures on discord to their jersey numbers or have their Discord nicknames on the VHL's discord servers, claiming their character name and their current number. Obviously there are going to be some players who refuse to do that and might not understand how to do it. It wouldn't be a mandatory thing as forcing this on players may make them disinterested in the VHL altogether as some players may be very committed to a number. If it is mandatory though that is for the leagues GM's to decide. Much like how the NHL is run, they could enforce the rule that two players can't share the same number and this would also be a way for the GM's to manage the numbers that are used, making sure no one is currently using a number that was previously retired. If you like the idea of having a Jersey number but don't fully understand how to change your nickname, I will quickly lead whoever is reading this through these steps on how to change your nickname on Discord for the VHL, without it affecting your Discord Username. Mind you I am a phone user so if you use a computer or other device these steps may not assist you. All you have to do on a phone is select the server that you want to change your nickname on, In this case it'd be the Victory Hockey League server and the Junior Showcase Tournament servers. Once you click the server you should see the full name of the server at the top of the tab and beside it should be three dots. Click the three dot symbol and it should open a window with the options to change your Nickname. Hopefully that helps you and you get to claim the jersey number you wish. I appreciate anyone who reads this thread and let me have some feedback. If you need to contact me my Discord is: Masu Chan #5468 and as of this post my name on the VHL discord servers is Mason Jones #43 Alternatively, I'm sure any of the admins and GM's will be able to assist you. Have a great day and good luck.
