Pasta got a reaction from AJW in Junior Review- Joshua Herron
As a young kid, Herron never could’ve pictured himself being in the position that he is in today. Recently signing with the Ottawa Lynx, his junior career has officially started.

Herron was born in a small township in Texas, far away from any ice. He grew up watching hockey on television, day dreaming of getting to play one day. At the age of 11, that dream became reality.  Herron relocated with his family to Boston, Massachusetts where he was able to lace up the skates for the first time. He spent the first few years playing at lower levels, but was determined to perform to the best of his abilities.

Herron would spend hours on shooting and stickhandling before and after school, and often would create fantasy situations in his head about scoring the game winning goal for his team to win a championship. He also pushed himself to be on the ice with players above his caliber to help him get better.

“I may have been a pylon to the other guys during games of pick up, but it really helped me learn certain aspects of the game. I was able to see the way they would shoot or skate and try to learn from it.”

After a few years, Herron began playing at higher levels, resulting in him getting the opportunity to play at a boarding school and truly excel his game. He put in hours and hours each day to try to make himself stand out on the ice. After his second season at the school, he led his team, finishing with 53 goals, 37 assists, and 9 game winning goals in a 40 game season.

“It was a surreal feeling getting to make such a difference for my team, something I had only ever dreamed of” said Herron. But his highlights didn’t stop there.

The following season, Herron played at the elite level, earning a spot as an assistant captain on the South Boston Savages. The savages went on to win their national championship tournament, with Herron leading the league in points.

As of today, Herron will be taking the next step in this journey, truly putting himself up to the test. He was picked up by the Ottawa Lynx and was ecstatic to accept the offer. We were able to speak to him about his recent signing earlier today.

“Words cannot describe how excited I am to be apart of this organization. It’s super exciting, but even more motivating. I can’t wait to help make a difference and push myself to get stronger all around as a player. Whenever I received the offer, something was telling me that this is where I needed to be and this is where I will be able to grow. I can’t wait”.

We look forward to seeing how he fairs out in the VHLM and are eager to see where he goes from there.

Welcome to the VHL, Pasta! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player.

Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!
