  4. Tremblay Found Behind Dumpster Thomas Erdbrink – New York Times New York, NY – At 6:50 AM on Tuesday morning the New York Police Department found a man passed out behind a dumpster in an alley on 8th Avenue. Reports from the team now confirm that the man was New York Americans left winger Simon Tremblay. Tremblay came to the Americans this offseason from the Calgary Wranglers in a deal with Keiji Toriyama in exchange for two draft picks. Though his on ice production was solid in his first season in the VHL (34-38-72) Tremblay had several off season problems, often missing practice. Tremblay has been part of the VHL’s substance abuse program since being drafted into the league back in season 34. Team spokesperson Sam Helberg released a statement earlier this afternoon. “The New York Americans have spoken with Simon about the situation. He has been going through a tough time in his life and has made some poor decisions, which he is fully aware of. After talking with Simon the Americans organization feel fully confident that he will be able to turn his act around. I ask all of the fans to try and support Simon through this difficult time in his life. Thank you for your time.” It is unclear whether or not there will be team discipline handed down. Tremblay Falling Through the Cracks? Sterling – vhlsim.com correspondent Bratislava, Slovakia - It has been no secret that throughout the years of the VHL many prospects have fallen through the cracks. Some members in this league seem destined to only here to represent failing prospects. For a while it has been a question whether or not Megan Anderson is one of those kinds of members. Since joining the league back in season 21 Anderson has represented 4 different players. None of them have made it past their third season in the VHL. Her most recent prospect she scooped up from the QMJHL and was thought to be almost as promising as her first prospect (Derek Boogard). After a strong junior campaign with the Minot Gladiators (162-115-277 in 144 games) Tremblay had a decent rookie season with the Calgary Wranglers scoring 34 goals and 38 assists for 72 points in 72 games. All during the season rumors were circulating that Tremblay had a drinking problem as he struggled to show up for practices. After the season Tremblay was dealt for the 2nd time in his career to the New York Americans. Now just 32 games in to the season Tremblay has been arrested for public intoxication. This is all too familiar as the same situation happened with Anderson’s last prospect, Dave Mustaine. The question remains will Tremblay continue to spiral out of control leading towards another early exit from the VHL? Sources close to the team have told me that since the incident they have seen a total transformation from Tremblay. American’s goalie coach Terrence Fong has even said that Tremblay has been coming to practice early and staying late these past few days. Will it be enough to turn around a season and a half of destructive tendencies? I suppose only time will tell, but I’m not sold yet.
  5. what happened with crabtree and sherman? i was watching hockey
  6. I'm cool with them leaving off St Louis, one less great player to have to deal with
  7. Kendrick keeping it real, it was both coaches faults
  8. it's such good back and forth hockey though
  9. i didnt get to see that because im watching on game center their benches look so empty lol
  10. not Vancouver's fault but the scraps that came during the period they were definitely guilty of Goon parts aside that was some great actual hockey, great chances and some great goaltending. By the end of the game these players are going to be so dead. Plus the Canucks lost a ton of important players to misconducts, this game has just been a hot mess. Fun to watch none the less
  11. I laugh every time St Louis does awesome
  12. Johansson has skill and potential but he just doesn't work hard and he doesn't drive play on his own and I truly believe he is only as good as his line mates. When he was playing on a line with Chimera and Ward they were just plain awful. They were getting out shot 2-1 while on the ice. It wasn't good, he isn't that good.
  13. I don't think we should trade Orlov he has huge promise and I really think has played great at times, I just don't think Green is the right partner for him. We have too many forwards and I hate Marcus Johansson, if Erat hadn't requested a trade I'd say sell Mojo and put Erat in the top 6. Erskine needs to go too, he looks like he is skating in quick sand half the time. We defs need another top 4 D because Orlov isn't there yet but selling him doesn't seem like a good option to me. Also Erat is a pretty good player and has played well on any line this season. He just can't score for anything but his playmaking skills are great and his forechecking is so strong.
  14. ^ you guys can have Erat he is top 6 material, we'll take Bieksa glad we could work that out, I'll notify the NHL
  15. ^I feel you on that one Greg but hey, at least we're not Oilers fans, right?
  16. I would quote people but for some reason this browser isn't letting me quote so here is this @Devise is it bad that when we were winning games we shouldn't have been winning I was actually mad? I was so afraid that they would become what the leafs have thinking that what they were doing was good enough to win games when it wasn't. They didn't and now we are losing game after game we should win, I mean we freaking lost to Buffalo twice. That means something like 15.5% of Buffalo's wins this season come against the Caps. That is nauseating. I would rather have Latta or Erat playing over Volpatti who I don't think is even close to an NHL player. You don't live here so you don't get to see the PR stuff (I'm guessing?) but they tried to hype up Volpatti on CRL and on CSN pretty hard for a little while there and he is the scrub to end all scrubs. If you look at his possession stats he is like 5th worst in the league. Also Erskine has not looked good at all since coming back and I would rather have him scratched right now. Erskine play the most against the Malkin line last night and when he was on the ice 70% of the shots went towards our net. I like Carrick but he is still just a rookie and he makes mistakes and Erskine has been shit and can't skate at all. I would rather have Erskine scratched and Oleksy playing. I am so, so miserable with the caps lately, it has been the most excruciating thing to watch because they're not a terrible team, and they've been playing up to potential but they just can't close it out. The goalie situation gives me a headache but I am still 110% devoted Holtby and don't even think it's an option to trade him despite recent play because he is the only one who is have proven he can do well consistently. So many people here are jumping right on to that Grubauer ship but he isn't our long term starter in my opinion. Goalies by nature are streaky and if you compare Holtby's save percentage over the course of the games he has played to a proven NHL starter like Henrik Lundqvist they are very, very similar. Obviously Lundqvist has more data but the graph itself is the same, goalies are streaky and Holtby will bounce back. /devise post @ devise @Maxy Boudreau is pretty awesome now isn't he? @Sandro/tfong I hate Torts and if it were my team I would have probably cried when they hired him. That said I don't think Vigneault is a great coach either and if it was between the two I wouldn't choose. Torts plays a pretty defensive style too though, he always has so I don't know how different they have looked from Vigneault to Torts because I don't watch every game just every now and again (yay Center Ice) but I would imagine that it wouldn't be astronomically different styles. It's not like you guys hired a super offensive coach.
  17. I think everyone can learn defense but I think some players think they don't need to play defense because they are so good offensively. Like I think they think it is a waste of time to learn defense even though they don't necessarily look down on it, they just don't want to be bothered with it. They only want to do the fun stuff and they think since their good enough at it they don't have to do the hard work stuff but I don't think players like Hall and Yakupov and Ovechkin and Kovalchuck (ha russians) are incapable of being taught defense I just think they think they are above it or something
  18. hey on my birthday happy birthday to me oh thanks me im glad you remembered
