  1. Welcome to the VHLM! It's currently the offseason, but the action doesn't have to stop because the season did. This year, we're doing a Junior Showcase Tournament for newer players to get some ice time after the playoffs, and for aspiring GM's to get experience. That being said, I'm the GM of the Royals of this year's JST. I think your player would be a good fit to add some depth down the middle of the line up. We already have a strong offensive core, and you'll have a variety of players to play with. Message me if this might interest you, or if you have any questions!
  2. Love to see the Forum Content in the forum content.
  3. 1. Hoping to make a splash in the defensive zone, while still putting up a good pace offensively. 2. Probably my trade to San Diego. I feel like both parties got a good deal, and everyone was above board communication-wise. 3. I think I only lost 1 game on that stretch technically. 4. Chicken all day. Feels cleaner to digest. 5. I'd like to think I add depth to the D core. 6. Probably, best locker room DJ
  4. Just shy of the trade deadline, a few players from the Saskatoon Wild will have to change wardrobes for warmer weather. The trade destinations were, namely, Las Vegas, Miami, and San Diego. I managed to snag an interview with Ray Stanton, who was traded to the San Diego Marlins, at the beach. The quick defenseman is quickly getting adjusted to the new change of scenery. "It's been quite some time since I've seen a palm tree. No shortage of places to eat, either." He reminisced, fondly, over his 1.16 point per game pace with the team, hoping to keep up. In less than formal words, he described what the keys to his success were. "My macronutrients are MINT. I'm only eating the chicken parm on weekends now. ... I'm progressing faster than I thought. I'm holding my defensive assignments more and I'm not taking as many penalties." His words aren't always concise, but his on-ice performance has been. His first two games as a Marlin came with 3 assists to match. He hopes to carry this throughout the playoff hunt and beyond. Rick Hammer HammerTimeBlog@VHL.com City National Arena Las Vegas, Nevada
  5. Had to make another one because I got traded.
  6. 1. Forum has no issue producing Content in the forum of clean deke moves, and mean wrister. His vision for the next play is, also, a big boost to the fundamentals. 2. I'm not sure how likely it is, but I think the D core of this group is improving, and will play better for the goalie behind him. This should cause his sv% to improve by proxy. 3. I didn't come into making my first character with too high of expectations, but Ray Stanton has 7 points in 6 games, which is a blessing. I just need to improve defensive responsibility. 4. Ray Stanton will buried in a Wild jersey. 5. My most memorable moment so far is meeting new people and exchanging ideas. I have not accomplished much yet. 6. As of writing this, the Philadelphia Reapers have a 7 point lead on the San Diego Marlins with 40 games played. I don't think it's unreasonable to think the Marlins could close this gap, but my pick is Philly.
  7. Parking is not guaranteed.
  8. Finally, I'm getting around to Spring cleaning, and uncovered an old scouting report from a recent Saskatoon Wild signing. Ray Stanton joined their VHLM roster January 27th, 2024; however, this report is from early March last year. It's one I hastily jotted down when I was watching the University of Nevada-Las Vegas club play against the University of Colorado in the D1 ACHA. Stanton would put up 2 assists in a 4-2 loss against Colorado. He wore his heart on his sleeve about the loss, but he made sure the group as a whole was on the same page about focusing on the next game. Ray Stanton is a 5'10'', 160 lb, right-shooting defenseman. Born in Henderson, Nevada, he's a little undersized to play pro at this point, but you see why he's where he is. He proves to be swift offensive-minded playmaker for UNLV this season. While his college peers are still working on winning the footrace in the offensive zone, Stanton has already shown to be able to join the rush when needed, while still being defensively responsible enough. The Good: Man, this kid is fast. Real finesse player behind the net. Not afraid of the gritty work. Defaulting for smart, safe passes, but is always looking for creative moves. Tries to get all of his teammates involved. So calm in tight ice under coverage. Will join the rush for scoring chances. Has a nostalgic slapshot off the rush. Has handles for days compared to his college peers. The Bad: He doesn't take up enough space due to his small stature. He has difficulty holding his own winning board battles. Usually, small enough to knock over, but always bounces back up with something to say. He has penalty issues. I mean jeez, dude, you've taken 2 tripping calls tonight. The Ugly: You see him before the game, and he looks nervous. I've noticed him looking both ways like he's looking for a train. These nerves seem to melt away once he takes the ice, where he seems very at home. He prefers fried foods before games. I'm not sure why one would wage a war on two fronts with hockey, and heartburn. From what I've heard about the kid, everyone has nothing but good things to say about this kid's attitude. He's humble, treats arena staff with respect, always driven to win. He's professional enough, but knows how to loosen the mood up when needed. March 03, 2023 Rick Hammer HammerTimeBlog@VHL.com City National Arena Las Vegas, Nevada
