Who Was Actually My Best Skater?

With Markus retiring it pushed me down memory lane in regards to my history with players in the league. If there is one thing that has remained true since I've joined the VHL in S24, it was that I generally made very scrub tier players. So much so that I've actually retired early (S6 I think is my earliest) on a couple of occasions. When thinking about all my players since I've been here, I've missed some that is how scrubby/unmemorable they have been. Because of that, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at all my players and see who is the best skater among them.

 

I say skater because my two goalies both had the most individual and team success among all my players. JB wound up being more general, but Skylar was actually a stud goalie before I retired him early. He may of made HoF if I stuck it out, but being a goalie was so unbearable to me then. Anyways, the Devise player list.

Welp; there it is. There is a bunch of things I only just discovered after looking at this list. I've only technically "went the distance" of having 8 VHL full seasons with one player. For trade reasons Humbert was one game shy. Logan Laich, my most meme player is my only one to have played all 8. However despite playing 144 more games than him, Laich finished 7 less points than Verner Reinholdt. WHAT A FUCKING SCRUB! 

 

I've only ever won individual awards with goalies, that's another interesting thing to note. ACTUALLY; Cancel that! Thaddeus Humbert won the Virkkunen for Most Sporstmanlike, a now retired award that was never noteworthy. That is the only skater award I've ever won, a retired one. Good job team. On the plus side only Verner and Rauno failed to get carried as a role player to a Cup win. Looking over this list of players though it's pretty easy to see even with less games played Skylar is my best player. My best skater though, ugh. I don't know. Verner I guess? Markus hilariously wound up worse than Logan by a long shot. Verner really had the most points which given how barren everything else is for all of them is pretty much the margin? 

 

Also I had 6 total skaters before Sven, COMBINED they played 2951 games and had 782 goals, and 1401 assists for a total of 2,183 points. That would also mean at some point during Mikka Pajari's career, ALL Devise skaters finally surpassed more goals combined than legendary player Scotty Campbell had in his career. (599) Also interestingly enough, my first player is the closest I've gotten to a point per game, so despite Verner being overall better you could make an argument that bang for buck he was the most valuable/consistent of all my skaters.
