Game 6 - OT - Mexico City Kings @ Philadelphia Reapers - VHLM

Game Six Overtime, 3-2 series lead for the Philadelphia Reapers with the Reapers being the home team. Hulk Hogan Jr slashes a Reaper and is sent to the box for 2 minutes. 13 seconds later Tom Eagles scores his 6th goal of the playoffs assisted by Carson Walkers which wins the series for the Reapers 4-2. Justin Lose was one of the penalty killers on that goal. It demoralized him and created the downward spiral that was the Season 76 blunder in the VHL. Lose has never fully recovered from that loss and it shows in his stats.

Let's rewind history and see what would have happened if that goal wasn't scored by Tom Eagles. In an alternate timeline Markus Emerson Jr saves Eagles shot and was cleared by Justin Lose. Penalty Kill line 2 swaps out for penalty kill line 1 to have fresh legs for the Reapers next attack. Fast forward and Philly is unsuccessful in the power play with Hulk Hogan Jr getting back on the ice for 5 on 5. The penalty kill unit swaps out for line 2. 5 minutes have passed in the first overtime. The puck is in the offensive zone for the Kings. Foley wins the faceoff and passes it to John Callahan Jr. Callahan Jr cycles the puck around the net to Lose. Foley moves in front of Jacob Carson to screen him. Suddenly, Lose sees an opening in the Reaper defense with Callahan Jr wide open in the left faceoff dot. With his head up, Lose fakes a shot and passes it over the Reaper defensive sticks and lands perfectly for a one timer for Callahan Jr. The one timer goes right over the left blocker of Carson and hits the back of the net. Goal scored by John Callahan Jr with his 8th goal of the playoffs, assisted by Justin Lose and Chris Foley. Game 6 goes to the Mexico City Kings and moves the series back home for game 7.

 

Game 7 would be a very defensive game. No one wants to take a penalty or make a mistake that could cost a goal. Markus Emerson Jr and Jacob Carson are both standing on their heads to keep the game even. This would be a marathon game and both teams knew this.

OT1        - Scoreless

 

Mexico City fans are on the edge of their seats for the start of Overtime 2. Everyone is finally feeling the fatigue from 5 scoreless periods. A once fast pace game is turning into an endurance sprint. 8 minutes into OT2, a late change and an icing call leaves RJ Thatcher on the ice with Foley and Lose. Foley and Lose both got on before the icing call was made so they were allowed to stay on the ice. Both fresh compared to the gassed Thatcher. In the defensive zone, Foley wins the faceoff clean and passes it back to Hogan Jr. Hogan Jr passes it to Thatcher so he can dump it into the Reaper zone to change... except, he sees an opportunity. Lose realizing he was going to dump was sprinting hard in front of the Reaper defense. Thatcher saucer passes it to Lose who has been sprung on a breakaway. This is what every hockey kid dreams of, Game 7 on home ice with the game on your stick. With all of those practices with the Reapers the season before, Lose knew Carson had a weak point of his five hole. Lose fakes going left and slides the puck under Carsons pad. Time moves into slow-mo as Lose skates past Carson and watches the puck slide into the net. Suddenly, the crowd erupts as the goal horn blares and Lose is swarmed by Kings players. Goal by Justin Lose his 7th goal of the playoffs. Assisted by RJ Thatcher and Hulk Hogan Jr. Mexico City Kings are kings of the VHLM and win the series 4-3.

 

 

Of course this is an alternate timeline and never happened. The Philadelphia Reapers are still the Season 75 VHLM Champions.
