In our timeline, Seattle forward Hex Rose was a S76 Prospect and brought up after his waiver season in Las Vegas of the VHLM.

Though, that wasn't the original plan for Rose. When I first joined the forums, I originally had the plan to wait a season to build a player.

Yes, Hex Rose was originally gonna be a S77 prospect, so let's explore what could've happened in that timeline had I stuck to my original plan.

So with that information, let's change some history! First off, instead of being signed with Las Vegas upon creation, Hex Rose, given the teams searching for Centers at the time of the trade deadline of S75, he would have likely signed with the Miami Marauders.

So why would I sign with the Marauders? When I first created Rose, I was looking for a team who had decent success and were middle of the pack in terms of likely playoff seeding. This would give me plenty of people to learn under, while also getting some playoff time, even if small.

For the sake of simplicity, the S75 Playoffs go exactly the same as they did in the real timeline, which leads into the S76 VHLM Dispersal Draft. Now this is quite a bit harder to figure out, since in the real timeline I wasn't even drafted in the VHLM (since I was above the cap).

*goes to do some math and looking at past seasons schedules*

Alright, so I believe Hex Rose would have 140-155 TPE around Draft time, which would place him Late 1st/Early 2nd Round. With this information and the abundance of picks a certain team had in this draft, it's very likely that Hex Rose would be drafted by the Minnesota Storm.

So for S76, Hex Rose becomes a Center for the Minnesota Storm. As is with the real timeline, let's make it so it ends the same, a semi-finals loss to the eventual champs, the Mexico City Kings.

After the playoffs are all set and done, it's realistic to say Hex Rose would have around 300 TPE by the time the S77 VHL Draft rolled around. This would place Rose as a Top 8 pick in terms of pure TPE. Now, many players in the draft were well-known recreates, and I believe the earliest Hex Rose would've gone is the #7 overall pick, which would go to the Calgary Wranglers.

So in this alternate timeline, Hex Rose would've started out in Miami, then Minnesota, before finally playing his rookie season as a member of the Calgary Wranglers. This is quite a difference to what happened in reality. In reality, I went straight from my waiver season in Las Vegas to being drafted and playing for the Seattle Bears.

Honestly this was really enjoyable to make and was a really neat thought experiment how so much could've changed had I stuck to my original plan. In reality though, I'm happy I didn't in the end, my time so far in the VHL has been amazing and I wouldn't have changed a thing about it.

Happy Theme Week!

Review: Good write up on an alternative timeline for Rose based off a year later draft class. Seems like a bit more work went into this for role playing as a lot didn’t happen for you, like being drafted.

it was an interesting take on where you would have signed and been drafted to in the VHLM/VHL.

Possibly a title, colour and pictures to draw the eye.
