S77: The Curse of the 7 Bomb

If you haven't been following the regular daily live sim action, and to be frank, I can't blame you (it's not the most exciting of content types) we have had an ongoing meme/theme this season, the Curse of the 7 Bomb. To those unaware, a "7 Bomb" is whenever a team scores 7 goals or more. This meme started relatively early into the live sim action after we noticed how frequently it seemed this season teams were scoring 7 or more goals a sim. 

 

To my count, there have been a grand total of 28 actual VHL sim days including last nights double sim. We are at a total of 19/28 sim days on record where one team has managed to score 7 goals or more. This is just the on the service level 7 bomb tracker though. To dig into the actual stats, we need to find every record where a team scored 7 goals or more this season to really see how often this has occurred.

Total Times That Was Exactly 7 Goals: 29

Warsaw: 8 

Chicago: 6

Toronto: 5 

Vancouver: 4

Seattle: 3

Prague: 2

London: 2

New York: 2

LA: 2

Moscow: 1

Helsinki: 1

 

So as it stands now Warsaw seems to be the king of the 7 bomb. I find it interesting that despite 37 occassions of seeing 7+ it was actually specifically 7, 29 of those times. That's a healthy percentage that really lends credence to the "narrative" of 7's being wild for S77. But we still must shame the other 4 teams in the league. Seriously 12/16 can find 7. We have to hold out hope for Davos, for Calgary, For DC and for Malmo. If every single team can score 7 goals at least once this season, then will be no denying the true legacy of the 7 Bomb.
