Omi Aberg really is a phenomenon - he is playing junior hockey with mostly teens while being 50, but like Aberg has said - age is just a number. Aberg started his career very late. He dreamed of being the best hockey player in the world, the only problem is, that this dream started a few years ago.

Aberg lives in Saint Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha and let's be honest - who knows where it is. One day Aberg was surfing the internet and he discovered highlights of some old soviet match and he was hooked at the first moment. He wanted to be a hockey player. The only problem is, that most of the hockey players at his age have already retired, but he planned to prove everyone wrong. He found his old yoga teacher and they started working on his physical game.

He knew, that he couldn't get ice there and who would know how to play hockey, and that's why he moved to Sweden, mostly because of his last name, and he felt like he could gain some trust there. He didn't know where to start, but he found there Pontus Aberg, who helped him out and found a trainer, that worked with Omi for 2 years and he was ready for something really bigger - SSL. Swedish Sunday League was the next step for Aberg and he did pretty well, 3 points in 60 games and well, Pontus Aberg thought, that it was time for him to step in. Pontus saw something that others didn't see - potential into Omi, and that is why Pontus Aberg decided to take one season rest from his professional hockey career and help his surname brother out. They trained together all year and played in some local tournaments all around the year and Omi was playing better and better each game. Omi improved in all aspects and he was ready for something bigger. He joined the Swedish 2nd league and took it by storm and scored 50 goals in 30 games to be the best sniper of the Swedish league.

He was ready. It was time to move over the ocean to the big league - VHL and he missed the VHLM draft, but that didn't stop Aberg from joining VHLM. He decided that Ottawa is the best place to take his talents further and here we are. Aberg is ready to start his young career and the sky is the limit for this old player.
