Corco 1,242
With the pre-season completed, VHL opening night awaits us. There are many questions for the many teams this upcoming season, and here are some of the biggest for each team. Calgary - Will they be able to reach the finals again without MVP Alexander Chershenko? We think so, as they actually upgraded in net, replacing the retired Satan with likely future HOF goalie Alexander Labatte. But will recently acquired center Michal Wozniak be able to replace the production left behind from Chershenko? Calgary certainly has some good youth, despite their recent selling out of draft picks for established players; Simon Tremblay, acquired from Cologne a season prior, will be making his debut for the Wranglers this season and will be looked at to replace the production of GIYGAS, who was traded to Seattle in the offseason, while other youngsters Felix Zamora and Chico Salmon will only look to improve. New York - Well, at least they have a roster—not a good one, but still a team nonetheless. The best players lacing up for Nee York this season are Filip Forsberg, Jack Mason, Lucas Smith, and Adam Harris, almost all of whom played depth roles on other teams last season. Nobody in their right mind is expecting the Americans to do much damage this season, so anything more than a dozen wins will be a success for the Americans this season. Quebec City Meute - Will Miles Larsson be the spark the Meute need to get into the finals? The only really notable move the Meute made this offseason was sending depth forward Jesper Hellqvist and draft picks to the Riga Reign in exchange for veteran power forward Miles Larsson, who will be retiring after the S35 season. Despite being a one season rental, Larsson is a hitting machine who can also put up a high number of points. As it looks so far, the Meute should be at the top of the standings in the North American conference this season. Seattle Bears - Will the Bears be able to finally reach the playoffs this season? The Bears playoff chances were certainly hurt by Calgary picking up Labatte and Wozniak, but don't count out Seattle just yet. The Bears may not have the superstar power that the Wranglers or Legion have, but they definitely have some star power of their own. Sergey Brovalenko, Karsten Olsen, and James Lefevre are some of the main pieces of the Seattle rebuild. The Bears also have the 3rd overall pick from two seasons ago, rookie goaltender Steven Smyl, whose performance will be vital should the Bears want to reach the post-season. Toronto Legion - How well will the young trio perform in Toronto? Defensemen Ville Sixten and Dan Tremblay will both be making their VHL debut this upcoming season. They won't be mainly counted on in big roles, since Toronto has some strong talent up front and a good top pairing, so any extra production from the trio will be a bonus. If any of the three fare as well as fellow teammate and reigning Rookie-of-the-Year winner Niklas Lindberg, Toronto will be in very good shape. Toast 887
Content: 3/3 - I really enjoyed reading this preview for the North American conference. Make sure to fact check the story before posting it up though. Just because you edited the article doesn't mean I think the first reply is a lie, haha. No worries though, it was still a good piece. Good work! Grammar: 2/2 - Caught some minor issues in the piece. recently acquired center -> recently-acquired center offseason -> off-season 3rd overall pick -> third-overall pick Appearance: .5/1 - Just bolding headers ain't going to cut it. This piece could have used colours, pictures, really anything else. OVERALL: 5.5/6 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/1046-claimeds35-questions-to-be-answered-na-conference/#findComment-4862 Share on other sites
TheDanglingCellist 1
Content: 3/3 - Well done. 'Nuff said. Grammar: 2/2 - Solid. Other than the ones Toast caught, just this: big roles, since Toronto -> big roles since Toronto I don't believe you need a comma there. Appearance: .5/1 - As toast said: needs more stuff. A bit of colour and/or pictures to spice it up. Overall: 5.5/6 FINAL: 6/6 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/1046-claimeds35-questions-to-be-answered-na-conference/#findComment-5402 Share on other sites
