fishy 1,757
Matty Socks has had a long and definitely satisfactory career. He has consistently been Very Good, developing steadily over his six and a half seasons with the Chicago Phoenix. Socks has never been one to compare his achievements to those of other players in the league, as his number one competitor has always been himself. After setting a career high in season 76 of 92 points, he has been working to try to match or exceed that ever since. Falling short for three consecutive years, he is determined to prove himself in season 80. However, with his seventh career season nearing its end, he has also begun to consider what comes after his days on the ice. Socks has always been fascinated with learning, but because of his dedication to his team and achieving his personal goals on the ice, he rarely has time to engage his brain like he wishes he could. Having bypassed secondary education as a young skater to pursue his dreams of playing professional hockey, he often dreams of where he would be if his priorities had been different. The prospect of new opportunities rests attractively on the horizon, but he doesn’t regret any of his career or academic decisions. Hockey has been profitable in more ways than financially, encountering teammates and rivals that enriched his overall experience. “For over a decade, I’ve subsumed myself with hockey. I’ve lived and breathed it. The adjustment to life without regular practices and game days will be odd, but I have to say, I’m really looking forward to it. Some great opportunities have presented themselves, and I’m really psyched about it.” Matty has been one who, in the past, is quite happy to share information with the press about his satisfaction with his own performance. However, it becomes quite apparent that he feels less comfortable discussing other individuals to say anything but positive or neutral things. Rarely, though, does he reply with only a few words or choose not to comment at all. When we asked what he’d be doing with his time off the ice, he said simply, “creating and learning.” Reliable sources have reported that he has been in contact with an undisclosed professor. However, this hasn’t been confirmed or denied by Socks himself. “I love learning. It’s something I’ve always been passionate about, but I put it on the backburner while I lived out my childhood dreams. Now that I’m older, I want to absorb information about something other than hockey. I’ll have the chance to come back to hockey someday, somehow, in the future. I don’t think anyone will be expecting a return from me, and I’d like to keep it as subtle as possible. I want to continue with the league, and I’m having to get creative,” he finished with a smug laugh. The mysterious comments have left us all wondering–is there more that Socks isn’t telling us? Fans on Twitter seem to think that he’s got a trick up his sleeve, and we wouldn’t be surprised to find out that that was the case. diacope, bigAL, samx and 2 others 4 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/109712-socks-alludes-to-mysterious-plot/ Share on other sites
