From the regular season to the playoffs, Malmo’s bruising winger, Druss Deathwalker seems to make a Jekyll and Hyde-type switch that is hard to explain – even for the man himself. Although he has a decent scoring touch having scored 20+ goals in each of the last three seasons, Deathwalker also dishes out a steady helping of assists. The playoffs are completely the opposite and started with his first post season as a rookie in S77 where he scored three goals and no assists in three games. The following post season was similar, this time scoring only three goals in ten games. Then, during Malmo’s run to the Cup in S79, Deathwalker finally got his first playoff assists but still finished with six goals and three assists in 19 games. Now, he’s at it again, when he potted two goals in Game 2 of this season’s series against Warsaw to give him two goals in the first two games. That gives him 14 goals to only three assists in 34 playoff games. For comparison, he has a 0.28 goals/game average in the regular season and a 0.41 goals/game average in the playoffs. Talk about stepping it up during crunch time! And this is one of the reasons why Deathwalker has been named the Nighthawks’ captain for the last three years.
