Game 75

Monday night featured an all-Western Conference showdown as the Mexico City Kings travelled to San Diego to face the Marlins. The Kings came into this one sitting second in the conference and were lookng to pad their points lead over the Marlins. The Kings have shown they have a very deep team this season and have been getting equal production from just about everyone. There was no better example of that when @hcrooster96 Matty Rooster opened the scoring late in the first period on the power play. It didn't take long for the Marlins to respond though, as budding VHLM star @NJDevils24 Justin Adolfsen buried his eighth of the season just 59 seconds later, making it a 1-1 game. Just when you thought the game would go into intermission tied, the very next faceoff the Kings stormed down the ice and tacked on another to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room after twenty minutes. The second period was back-and-forth and saw the teams trade goals, including Rooster's second of the game. Early into the third period, James Marino would tie things back up for the Marlins to make it 3-3. It stayed that way until the buzzer, which meant free hockey! Overtime would solve nothing, so that meant we were off to a shootout.  In Round 5 Calen McKay made a nice little curl and drag move to wait out the goalie and score to put the Kings up 2-1 in the shooutout. The Marlins send out Lee Daughlitull Leedleleigh to answer, but they whistled one an inch over the crossbar. With that, the Kings move to 9-6-0 on the season while the Marlins fall to 4-8-3. This was a closely contested matchup from bell-to-bell and Marlins fans definitely got their moneys worth despite the home team coming up just a hair short!

Game 69 review:

With a final score of 5-4 in favor of Philadelphia, you know the fans got their moneys worth out of this game. The first period saw four goals. The first by Hunor Solyom, which gave Mississauga the 1-0 lead, but exactly six minuets later Philadelphia would score one of four unanswered goals, which was kickstarted by Orr. During the four unanswered goals, Gus Bently would pick up a solid 3 points, contributing to 3 of the four goals. The second period saw each team get a goal a piece. The third period would see Mississauga actually tie the game 4-4, but a brilliant finish from Sebastien dokis (his 15th of the year) would make the game 5-4 in favor of Philadelphia. Hunter Solyom ended up being the first star of the game with a four point night, followed by two Philadelphia players. As Philly ended up with the win they move to an astounding 15-1 on the season.

Game 72 review:

In a tight affair between two western conference teams, the two teams clashed which resulted in a 3-1 Mexico City Kings victory. With all three stars on the game on Mexico's side you can tell it was solid performance from one of the top Western Conference teams. The first period saw Mexico strike first with a top shelf beauty from Tomas Sogaard, followed by Las Vegas's one and only goal of the game by Hugh G Johnson, which was his first of the season. From there we see Mexico score a goal in each of the following periods, resulting in the 3-1 result. Mexico's goalie Brandt Fuhr had a brilliant performance, stopping 37 of 38 shots from Las Vegas. Fuhr now moves to a solid 8-4 record. The three stars of the game ended up being Tomas Sogaard, Brandt Fuhr, and Calen McKay, with each of those skaters picking up 2 points. Las Vegas's schedule wont get any easier as they play Houston next.
