Always cool to see new people get into podcasting!

Yeah Scotty Campbell is definitely a good pick for the first player you got, he is without doubt the all-time great in the league. If you want something to kind of see how far he was ahead of his competition, here are the leaders from Season 4, and you can see how far he is ahead of his competition!

You raise a good point, I hadn't thought about how it might be difficult for newer people to find out where our older players played. So it seemed like you gathered it, but basically anyone who played in the league in Season 47 or later has a player page but unfortunately everyone else does not. A good resource for finding out quickly which of the older HOFers play in which position would be this thread: https://vhlforum.com/topic/16036-hall-of-fame-players-by-position/ . It hasn't been updated in a bit, but it sorts Hall of Famers by position, so it's especially useful for those players who don't have a player page on the portal.

Christian is another good pick, we named the rookie of the year award in his honour, you can find here that he finished his rookie season third in points, which was incredibly impressive!

Matt Bailey is another good pick, but unfortunately I think your favourite stat of his is bugged. So this here is our manually tracked stats for the VHL through to S72 and Bailey does have way more shots than he's been recorded as having. He also is curiously given more games played on the page you were looking at, which makes me think the portal may accidentally be double counting something. Still an excellent player though (At the point that he retired, he was the Hall of Famer with the most hits, so while it doesn't look as good maybe compared to some current players, he was definitely a superb hitter for his era!)

Brick Wahl I think is another one that is bugged on the page you were looking at, but for a pretty funny reason, we've actually had two Brick Wahl's and I think the portal has merged the two together on the page you're looking at! The first Brick Wahl is a Hall of Famer though and the second one won five awards in their final season in the league (including MVP and Most Outstanding Player) so they are both still very good players in their own right!

And yes this podcast will definitely count as a PT and for the theme week so don't worry about that, it was interesting to listen to a new member looking through the site and get to grips with the history of the league, and I'd be interested in listening to more, nice work @Insypher!

@MubbleFubblesThank you so much! I knew that the Matt Bailey thing seemed too good to be true. If that stat were to be real he would probably be my hero lol. I also thought something had to be up with Brick Wahl, as the like given took me to Brick Wahl II, but I didn't think much of it. I should've double-checked that it made sense for him to play 900+ games. Thanks again for the feedback!

Hell yes, more podcasters! Love seeing fresh faces doing these.

Don’t sweat the error with Matt Bailey being a defenceman; he was actually both! If memory serves, he was a forward for his first ~6 seasons, then switched to defence for his last two where he also excelled. Or maybe I have that backwards. Either way, he was part of the REAL dream team of the S19 Calgary Wranglers so it was a valid selection. ;)

EDIT: He was actually half and half! https://vhlportal.com/hof/inductees/3

It is a shame we don’t have the access to old player pages and such. The VHL is on its 3rd website, so there was much that was lost on the first two.

Anyway, awesome work dude!
