Alex 3,316
Hi and welcome to the VHL if you’re new! Before you apply your TPE it is important to understand what each attribute does and how it will affect how your player performs in STHS (sim engine). Starting in season 83 we have made the shift from the normal STHS attributes to new ‘Hybrid Attributes’, that when TPE is applied to them it goes into one or more STHS attribute. I understand initially this can be really confusing, so I’ll try and break it down as best and as simply as I can for you below. STHS Attributes: Primary: Passing (PA) - The higher the stat, better chance to have a successful pass.Scoring (SC) - The higher the stat, better chance to score by normal shot or deflection.Defense (DF) - The higher the stat, better they'll play in defense / they'll block more shot / they'll retrieve a free puck more often, defense is more of a positioning stat and does help offensive production as well. Secondary: Skating (SK) - The higher the stat, less chance to get successfully hit.Strength (ST) - The higher the stat, less chance to get successfully hit. Limited effect on faceoff.Puck Handling (PH) - The higher the stat, less chance to get successfully hit / less chance to lose control of the puck / better chance in shot block or shot deflection.Face Offs (FO) - The higher the stat, the more faceoffs they'll win (only needed if your player is a center). Tertiary/Build Specific: Checking (CK) - The higher the stat, the more hits they’ll give.Fighting (FG) - The higher the stat, the more fights they'll be part of.Discipline (DI) - The higher the stat, the less penalties they'll take.Penalty Shot (PS) - The higher the stat, the higher the chance to score in a penalty shot.Leadership (LD) - The higher the stat, the better their morale and their team’s morale will be. **PLEASE NOTE** With the STHS attributes there is a couple general contraventions to keep in mind, first off it is best to either focus on scoring or passing, as well as either checking or discipline. Now, How Do ‘Hybrid Attributes’ Work? There are 14 different hybrid attributes, each of these attributes when upgrade put a portion of that amount into one of the above STHS attributes that will affect how your player performs. The hybrid attributes and their effects are: Deking = PH (0.24) and DF (0.12) Stickhandling = PH (0.36) and SK (0.12) Passing = PA (0.36) Body Checking = DF (0.06) and CK (0.36) Grit = CK (0.24) and FG (0.3) Faceoffs = FO (0.54) and ST (0.24) Stick Checking = DF (0.24) and ST (0.18) Defensive Coverage = DF (0.18) and SK (0.18) Offensive Vision = PA (0.3) and SC (0.3) Speed = SK (0.3) Slap Shot = SC (0.12) and ST (0.3) Wrist Shot = SC (0.12) and PS (0.48) Leadership = LD (0.72) Poise = LD (0.3) and DI (0.54) Now that we are familiar with each of the hybrid attributes and what STHS attributes they effect, depending on the type of player you want to be there is different attributes that you’ll want to focus on.
