Sakamoto, moments after being selected

Drafted 7th overall to the Toronto Legion, Japanese defenseman Ryuji Sakamoto is ecstatic. "Toronto has a great history, lots of cool restaurants, loves hockey, and has a big Asian population. My reporter dude told me that it's the most diverse city in the world, and I can't wait to play there and explore the city."

 

Sakamoto pulls out his phone and starts thumbing the screen. "Now I just gotta figure out if I want to go to Ramen Isshin or Hokkaido Ramen Santouka first..."

 

Early reports are that Legion General Manager @Doomsday was in frequent contact with the young blueliner leading up to the draft, and had a brief conversation with him immediately following the pick. In a pandemic world where the draft is still a remote event, it's difficult to ascertain all of the information, but if the rumors prove to be true, it sounds like Doomsday had targeted Sakamoto for some time.
