The Flames' unmatched injury luck drying up isn't adversity, it's just hockey

Coming off a strong season in the VHLE, Ronan Lavelle has struggled the first quarter of his rookie season. Lavelle led the VHLE in points and goals, and expectations were high. He was picked by many to be a potential ROTY candidate but that picture is diming fast as Lavelle has gotten a rude awakening joining the big league. Lavelle started the season off strong, scoring 2 goals in his first career game, but has since registered just 16 points in 24 games played. DC spent the off-season speeding up their rebuild to become competitive. Lavelle is playing with one of, if not the best goal scorer in the league in Taylor Mourning and the former skilled defenseman turned center Ryan Vidot. DC now finds themselves 2 games below .500 and losing ground. The good news, is it is still very early in the season. The expectation for the Dragons was not immediate cup contender, but they are trending in the right direction with the skill on their roster. They will need Lavelle and some of the other skilled players struggling to step up to right the ship.
