Anthique 225
After wining the championship in the best league in France, Alfred Champagne he's ready to take the VHLM. In the press conference after the victory, his coach and his GM talked about him when journalists asked them what they think about him and what his next team should expect. Journalist : «Hi Mr. McGrath. What do you think about the performance of Alfred Champagne this year? Can we hope to see that type of performance in the future?» Coach : «He brings constant energy to the team with his skating and huge body check. His performance was exactly what we expected. A guy who's always in movement, wants the puck, throws some hits to take the puck and he's not afraid to go to net the net to have a scoring chance. He may not have the best hands, but his heart, his competitiveness and his skating ability make him useful in other aspect of a hockey game. I expect him to play the same way at to pro level. Guys will be bigger and faster and that's exactly the strength of Alfred. He will have to use them to have success and I sure that his next coach will love to have a player like him.» Journalist: «You talked about his strengths, but what about his flaws? What to he have to work to have success at the next level?» Coach : «Like I said, his hands will need to get better to keep control of the puck and deke the defender when pass him with speed it's not a possibility. He will also have to pass more often and to the right teammates. His offensive vision is below average and that makes him predictable. If he can get better in those aspects with the puck, it will make him more dangerous because now they only watch his shot. When I say he shot, I speak about his slap shot because of his size, it's lethal. His wrist shot not so great, but he needs at least one or the other. His defense can be better too. He's not a liability, but with his reach and his d he should be able to make better pokecheck and cover more his space on the ice. He's not lost, but the reaction time is too slow. He's young, so their's room for leadership and poise to get better. I'm not worried about that.» Journalist : «This one is for Mr. Fauchon, can you tell us about where he will play in the upcoming Junior Showcase Tournament?» GM: «I've talked to his agent and the Warriors called us to congratulate us about the championship and if Champagne could be interested to play for them. We already had a discussion about that with him and I can confirm you that he will play for them tonight. He may not have a big role, but he can show what he's made off before the draft.» PR guy: «Thank you all for coming, hope to see you next week for the parade and next season to talk about our team!» With this, it's end the ''minor'' hockey for him and he prepares for the big leagues. It will not be easy because there will be players from all around the globe who will try to be better than him. Life has been good so far for him so there is hope that it will continue for him and he can have success wherever he go. der meister 3,248
First off, let me just say that I really enjoyed this piece. I like the press conference-style presentation a lot, and it gives us a nice, clear picture of who exactly your player is, at least at this point in time. I did notice some grammatical issues, but they were all ones that made me think that perhaps English is not your first language [either that or you're writing it like a transcript, where the characters in your piece are not native English speakers]. I do see your profile says Quebec, in which case I must applaud you for your grasp of English, assuming you're a native French speaker. I took French in college and earned As, but I wouldn't be able to write anything close to as good as this in French as you did in English. That said, if my assumptions are incorrect, I apologize, and I'll grade your future media pieces more harshly. 10/10 - Welcome to the league and best of luck with your player! Yeah exactly I'm from Quebec and French is my first language. I know I make some mistakes, but I try my best to make my text understandable for you I will probably get better with time, it was a long time ago since I wrote something in English not related to school. But thanks for the good words (see what I did there haha), it's not the last time I'm doing something like this. v.2 and der meister 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/121684-good-words-for-alfred-champagne/#findComment-929735 Share on other sites
