Hoopydog 195
Let’s be honest, if this season’s San Diego Marlins team didn’t make it to the VHLM finals, it would be probably the biggest shock I’d have witnessed in the league. Every player on the roster capped out which is just mental. None the less, the Marlins earned their place in the finals after beating Halifax in game 7 after a back and forth, tightly contested series. The game got off to a hot start after Boudreaux fired Halifax in front just after the 3rd minute mark of the 1st period. San Diego’s powerplay seemed to find their feet after a rough spell in this series and defensemen Malum Maellard fired home to tie the game at 1 apiece. The Marlins came out all guns blazing in the 2nd with Joachim Bryngelson scoring just 2 minutes into the period to give them the lead. Then 5 minutes later, former Halifax forward Svatopluk Puk fired home another goal to give San Diego a 3-1 lead and secure their place in the final. The Marlins will play the Las Vegas Aces in the final, whom they finished the season tied on 118 points with and I suspect this series will be very, very close.
