RoughHands 31
Full Name: Matej NemecekPosition: LWAge: 22Handedness: Right Height (inches): 6'5 Weight (lbs.): 209Birthplace: Bratislava, Slovakia Matej is a primary agitator and checker. Matej Nemecek is usually put out against the other teams’ finest players on a consistent basis and he understands how to hit, jab, slash, facewash, chirp and usually annoy those members of the other team. He’s continually in his opponents’ face and doesn’t back down from a fight, as evidenced by his 142 PIMs in 2012-13 and 158 PIMs in 2013-14. Nevertheless Nemeceks’ enthusiasm and truculence do need to be reigned in as he has a tendency to take too many minor penalties, which can be a liability for his team. In the defensive zone, Matej is a accountable player. He is good at cutting down passing lanes, and is a fearless shot blocker. He is a keen defender with good instincts, and is clearly well coached in this aspect of the game. Offensively Nemecek’ game has developed a lot in the past year. He’s got a respectable shot and a good release, and we can see this in the 19 goals he recorded this season. His hands are decent, but not great. He controls the puck well and plays an effective cycle game, but don’t expect him to show off too many dangles that will get by opposing defencemen. Nemecek has good instincts and is a decent passer. However his best attribute, as you’d presume, is his effort along the boards. Matej is great at winning board battles, at working down low on the cycle, and at driving hard to the net when he gets the chance. This is where he generates most of his offensive chances and points. Nemecek’s biggest weakness at this point is his skating. He has a very unpleasant stride. It is short and choppy. He is not overly slow, but we’d categorize his top end speed as slightly below average. His first steps, and his acceleration also require work. Matej is solid and well balanced on his skates however, as he is very difficult to knock off the puck and this helps him in the offensive zone and along the boards. We believe Nemecek has the potential to be an agitating presence, and third line VHLer, who can kill penalties, and play a two way game, even chipping in the odd goal. There is also an outside chance that his offensive game will continue to develop and Matej could even develop into a second line winger, however we feel the third line is more likely. Nemecek has a great compete level and good hockey sense in all three zones. The Final Report: Matej Nemecek is a hard-nosed and physical winger who has been acquired by the Yukon Rush. His game grew leaps and bounds in the 2013-2014 season, where he saw his offensive totals rise from 12 points to 44. A immense reason for the increased production was due to an improvement in his skating stride and in his ability to handle the puck at top speed. He has a quick release on his shot and isn't afraid to go to the dirty areas of the ice. He plays physical, hits hard and isn't afraid to drop the gloves. He's defensively responsibly and was counted on to play in key defensive situations all season long, including as one of the teams top penalty killers. eaglesfan036 and Victor 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/13013-claimedthe-scouting-report-matej-nemecek/ Share on other sites
