KRZY 416
I’ve done this each of the past 2 seasons and I plan to keep on doing it , this seasons edition is the S86 Oslo Storm ! Let’s compare the Storm to their NHL Counterparts! Let’s Start with the Forwards ! Sunglasses Joyo centre @JetsGoalie101 Mathew Barzal Joyo is a pass first Centre with great skating ability ! Joyo is an offence driver on Oslo and a big voice in the locker room . Most importantly the guy never ever takes off his sunglasses it’s even been noted that he has a special exemption to wear them on the ice for every game ! Even making sunglasses a rallying point for Oslo this season ! Nikolas Kauppi Right Wing @Tetricide Tage Thompson Kauppi is huge ! Both on and off the ice ! The rookie winger has been an integral part of Oslo’s Offence this season giving 100% every single shift ! Kauppi is a power forward any team would be lucky to have on their roster ! Ben McLaughlin Left Wing @Ben mclaughlin Brandon Hagel Mclaughlin is a Swiss Army knife the guy can play up and down the lineup wherever Oslo needs him . A little bit of a late bloomer he’s finding his stride and proving to be a valuable piece to Oslo . He’s trusted to play the game the right way whenever he is on the ice in whatever role he is asked to play . Jon Webber Jr Left Wing @Webberj Jamie Benn Oslo’s captain is a natural leader on and off the ice ! Leading by example whether it’s on the ice or in the locker room . Webber knows how to set the tone and make an impact during a game . He’s on track to become Oslo’s all time leading scorer and in my opinion after this season the team should consider potentially retiring the man’s jersey number . ( yes I’m his short 2 seasons he’s had that big of an impact on the storm franchise). Robert Overmeyer Left Wing @RobBro34 Nic Robertson Overmeyer is a speedy small winger with loads of potential. He could become a very important winger for Oslo and even a dominant offensive winger in the VHLE and VHL for years to come ! It’s a just a matter of if he can put all his potential and tools together and carve out a successful career for himself Vinny Lecavalier Centre @Spartakiller2 Dylan Strome New comer Lecavalier has came as advertised immediately fitting in on Oslo , and bringing much needed help offensively when Oslo looked like the were at one point lacking the firepower . Vinny Looks like a player with a lot of potential trying to make a name for himself in this league ! So far he’s blowing expectations out of the water for himself . Randy Bobandy Centre @AJW Dylan Holloway Bobandy came into this season a highly touted prospect for the S87 draft and while he struggled early on he seems to be finding his game as of late . Bobandy will almost certainly be playing in the VHL next season as he is the second ranked prospect in the draft . Look for him to continue to improve each and every game ! Pistol Pete Centre @PistolP Jordan Staal Pete is a veteran Centre that brings a lot of experience to Oslo . Although this is his last season he’s been a valuable fourth line grinder and energy player . Aswell as a valuable veteran presence to have in the Oslo locker room. Lets move on too Defenceman! Quinn Clark @axtron Brandon Montour Clark has been a revalation on Oslo’s backend this year contributing to their successful team defence game , while also contributing consistently offensively aswell . Clark came into this season wanting to give more to the team both offensively and defensively! And boy has he done that and more ! Brodie Landry lll @Brodie_Landry Miro Hieskanen Landry came into this season with a completely retooled game and focus . And honestly it’s shown he’s one of the best 2 way d men in the VHLE this season ! He’s contributing offensively and shutting other teams top players down defensively! Like Clark , Landry has been crucial to Oslo’s defensive success this season ! Jack The Ripper @Ripper Moritz Seider Ripper sees the ice exceptionally well he makes a great first breakout pass , and is almost never out of position on the ice , he’s been a very welcomed addition to Oslo’s d core this season. Hunor Solyom @solyom Matt Roy Solyom is a hard nosed stay at home d man with a bit of offensive upside ! He’s been a calming force so far this year . He can really slow down the play and seemingly always makes the right decision with the puck . Rhys Trenton @DeeGoat Brent Burns Trenton recently came to Oslo via trade and has been everything they needed to stabilize their d core . The veteran offensive d man is in his last season before retirement . He looks like he hasn’t skipped a beat since being acquired ! Time for the Goalies now ! Alexander Minion @UnknownMinion Ilya Sorokin Minion has single-handedly won a number of games for Oslo this year , He’s having a fantastic season so far in net for the storm ! And will continue to be the backbone of the storm as they work towards their ultimate goal of making the playoffs and working towards repeating as renaissance cup champs! Travis Clark @ClarkClanT Keith Kinkaid Clark has so far proven to be a serviceable and dependable backup for Oslo this season . Look for his playing time to increase as the season goes on! there you have in folks there who I believe are the closest counterparts for Oslo’s players based on their play style and the year they are having ! JB123, Webberj, JetsGoalie101 and 3 others 1 4 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/130398-comparing-oslo-storms-players-to-their-nhl-counterparts/ Share on other sites
