Tavish DeGroot and the Seattle Bears have begun discussions on what the future of the aging forward’s future is within the Bears lineup, organization, and the VHL as a whole. Following the conclusion of this season, DeGroot will be entering his 8th season in the major leagues, one away from when commissioner Beketov personally travels to the players house and surgically removes their spinal cord.

This leaves the forward with few options. Should he declare himself retired at next season's trade deadline? This would allow him to retire as a Bear, the team that has shown him so much love in his late career, and allow for to retain his spinal cord to continue drinking an unsafe amount of Scotch. Alternatively, he can start playing the 9th season and retire at the deadline then, keeping his bloodline's starch rivalry with the Lamb family hot, at the risk of forever losing his ability to walk. These questions plague DeGroot, and it is unknown how it will affect his performance moving forward.
