is the CA Civil War movie like set during the civil war, or is it going to be a new civil war all together?

It's a re-worked version of the comic event. Basically Captain America vs. Iron Man ft. Black Panther and who knows who else.

They should make an Iron Fist and/or Power Man and Iron Fist movie over Black Panther or Captain Marvel.

As awesome as Iron Fist and Luke Cage are, Black Panther is an A-rate hero and one of the best Marvel characters hands down.

Dr. Strange should be good. Still disappointed about Edgar Wright not being associated with Ant Man anymore though.

It's disappointing but he wanted the movie to basically be a standalone. Now Ant-Man is the final Phase 2 movie and might be an epilogue of sorts to Age of Ultron. I suspect we'll some of Hank Pym's role in the initial creation of Ultron.

Interested to see how much the Civil War storyline in Captain America affects the "whole" universe, and for how long. I'm hoping they get the casting choice right on some of this stuff too, but dear god this is a very extensive plan.

Here is the real question, do they try to do anything for phase 4, or do they finally become content at the end of part 2 of Avengers 3 to let it rest for a while? Ha!

As much as I don't think super hero movies are a fad, and that they have basically replaced blockbuster movies I do think eventually we will hit a point where audiences are simply unimpressed with more and more and more. I don't know if a fourth avengers movie after all this would be a smart idea.

The problem will be if people continue to lump everything together as a "superhero" movie. What's starting to happen is while all these movies feature heroes, they're all going into different genres. CA: The First Avenger was a very comic book-y war movie, but The Winter Soldier was a full-on political spy thriller. Guardians of the Galaxy was a sci-fi epic. As long as the keep the quality of the movies up and keep a variety of genres, the movies will continue to do well.

I think Avengers will still be the massive event films that bring the characters together, but the roster will change up considerably. Marvel is making moves to try and get Fantastic Four back and is still rumoured to be working on a deal with Sony for Spider-Man. If they get those guys in time for Phase 4, they can totally allow Iron Man, Captain America, etc. to take a bit of a back seat to Spidey, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, etc.

I'm sure they have plans beyond Infinity War, but they're definitely going to keep those quiet until they see how these movies do. Beyond that, I'm more concerned about DC/Warner and Sony flooding the market with mediocre films.

P.S. I'm predicting that Iron Man takes off at the end of Civil War. Maybe flies off into space and runs into the Guardians? He almost had a cameo in GOTG. They're already showing the rift grow between the two in Age of Ultron.

Yeah it's possible. It'll all depend on how they do the Civil War stuff. I know it wont' be exactly as it was in the comics, but I still think it was one of the best story archs of all time, so I hope they get good mileage out of it and it's effects aren't just felt for the one film.

You are right about genres, but people still see the Marvel header on everything. Again I'm not saying it isn't still a huge market or deal, it is. But fatigue happens with everything, even if quality is high. In regards to DC/Warner and Sony, that is tough. The X-Men films are back on track, that last one was pretty great. I didn't hate Man of Steel either, but Warners track record is less great. As in, the Nolan films were fantastic, but that is pretty much it. Man of Steel was enjoyable, but Green Lantern was hot garbage.

I'm cautious about Batman vs Superman because it COULD be good. They are adapting the right Frank Miller story to do it correctly, and they are going for a very unique style, but it's all about execution. Either way though this Marvel stuff is still exciting.

Curious who gets cast as Captain Marvel. Curious if the rumors of Ewen McGregor or Benedict Cumberbatch as playing Doctor Strange is true as well. Either would be excellent choices. Also curious if the Agents of Shields TV series and the many other Marvel TV series characters every see any screen time in these upcoming films as well. The universe is getting so huge, going through and rewatching it over after it's done is going to be like the most impossible task of all time.

Civil War is going to be really interesting because the only thing that looks like it's carrying over is that it's Cap vs. Tony and it's got the same name. Otherwise, I think they're doing something entirely new. We know Black Panther is going to be in it, and I think the Winter Soldier is going to play a major role since it's heavily implied (if not outright stated) that Bucky killed Tony's parents.

I get your point about the Marvel header, but I think many people are starting to look at that more as a seal of quality. They see Marvel, they know they are getting a good movie. Everything they've put out has been pretty good except maybe Incredible Hulk and Thor. X-Men is off at Fox, and I agree that they seem to have a handle on it. But Sony hasn't got a clue what it's doing with Spiderman, and DC is just now trying to establish their characters. They have some really good TV shows going right now and only Arrow and Flash are connected, though they aren't going to have anything to do with the movies. They're in serious catch-up mode right now and I wonder if it's too little, too late.

People over on /r/marvelstudios are throwing around the name Katheryn Winnick for Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel. I'm not really familiar with her work, but of the stuff I watched of her on Vikings today I think she might be a solid option. I hope it's not Katee Sackhoff like half these people have hard-ons for because she's a terrible actress. Cumberbatch would be interesting for Doctor Strange, at least on a pure looks basis I think Ewan McGregor would be better. So many people have been rumoured for that role now that I don't even bother speculating.

I'm shocked people still flock to these comic book movies, but they are massive moneymakers so it's not going to slow down any time soon.

I don't even bother going to the theatres any more.

Exact same movie every time with a new guy/girl in tights.  No creativity.

Uh. You see Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Guardians of the Galaxy? If not, please shut up and show yourself out.

No need to be an asshole, just stating my opinion.

I've been told to see Guardians of the Galaxy because it might be different.  I am going to give it a chance once I can watch it for free on XBMC - but I have EXTREMELY low expectations of it.

My wife watched Winter Soldier.  I saw bits and pieces of it while it was on the television - same old movies, different set of tights.

I'm not saying you can't enjoy it, I just don't understand the appeal, that's all.  The first 30 superhero movies were okay, but I have not bothered with them for some time.  Didn't see Dark Knight even.   Age of Voltron I 'might' watch if I have cleared my queue of actual movies I am interested in, but chances are low I ever get to it.

It's okay to have an opinion, but you've made it pretty clear you're making baseless assumptions without even watching the movies. Name another superhero movie that was also a political spy thriller? I'm not aware of any. Guardians of the Galaxy is completely different from anything else Marvel has put out. The Dark Knight is generally regarded as one of the best movies of the last 15 years, it's part of the reason the Academy expanded the number of Best Picture nominations to 10.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, just like I'm entitled to tell them to shut up when they clearly don't have much of a clue what they're talking about. It's called Age of Ultron, by the way. Pretty significant difference.
