The fat lady sang and the DC Dragons are reigning Continental Cup champions. So now the great nothingness that is the off-season has finally arrived. Not so much for Callum. He signed up for the traditional ProAm Tournament and will represent the Birmingham Dragons, while his father will lace his skates for the Winnipeg Royals. We will not be able to see the 'Beauty and the Beast' in this tourney, as the Japanese defender is flying back home to pay much overdue visits to her family and friends. The hulking Swiss asked Rin to bring back some Mangas, to improve on his Japanese, which he has taken up in his free time.

The Swiss prodigy also has received a letter from his unit in the Swiss Army. Apparently for the units next refreshing course, they are short staffed on officers and Callum was asked whether he could jump in. Even though as an expat he is excused from serving in the Armed Forces, the Calgary native immediately said yes. It is also a good opportunity to go and see friends and family back home. He will get his Captain's uniform from his parents' place and report for duty in Andermatt, where the competence center for alpine warfare is located. It will be the first time he will be in the army after becoming a VHL player. He is excited whether his notoriety for a no-nonsense physical defender in one of the physically most taxing sports is a boon or a curse in a unit full of hard men and women, who are trained to fight their battles in one of the most unforgiving terrains imaginable.

Should he be bored for whatever reason, there is still this yacht project on the back burner. As soon as Ducky learned that Callum is a shipbuilding engineer, the retiring Americans defender told him about his vision of an explorer yacht. Janser named him a few reputable shipyards, which are specialized on this kind of vessel, including iceclass hulls. But Mallum insisted that his team mate has to be involved in the design of his ship. So the Americans' alternate captain got in touch with a few shipbuilders and explained the situation. One of them looked at his CV and were impressed about his credentials. They offered him a co-operation where he will be the middle man for this build and give inputs about Maellard's special requirements and help designing the boat to the customer's needs. Callum gladly accepted the offer and is now helping to design Ducky's yacht.

However, what he looks most forward to is the ProAm, where he will measure himself against his father for the first time on a semi-competitve level. He is smiling at the prospect of thwarting a scoring opportunity for his old man. It will interesting to see, how much rust his dad has managed to knock off for this family tradition and if he is still able to score on a meaningful pace against younger competition.

The coming weeks will show, how capable the HOFer still is and we will make sure to report on this in due course.
