We may not have to see this fucker again, YAY!

It has taken six long seasons, but finally, Edwin Encarnacion has found the hockey home that was meant for him, unemployment. With Edwin’s contract with the Wranglers expiring yesterday, he now sits alongside several other VHL prospects in free agency, waiting for the right offer to come in, although in the case of Edwin, it’s fairly safe to assume that no-one has even remotely considered putting in an offer for him. Although he somehow managed to get some votes for the Labatte Award in Season 39, Edwin’s play in Season 40 was below even our own exceptionally low expectations of Edwin. In addition, even though Calgary ended up being one of the surprises of the playoffs by pulling out a 4-3 series win over the Quebec City Meute, Encarnacion certainly did not help them achieve this as he was the player that recorded the worst +/- in the playoffs.

As it turns out, even if there was a team hoping to secure the services of Encarnacion to boost their shot at the playoffs, it’s been said that the Dominican may not be willing to enter talks with them, as Encarnacion’s priority is finding his way onto a team that will allow him to record as many hits and shot blocks as possible. This would suggest that Encarnacion would be hoping to join a team with a similar roster situation to the Season 35 Riga Reign, his first VHL team and where he recorded his highest season totals in hits and shot blocks, but there doesn’t appear to be any current teams that are as thin in talent as the Reign were. Even if a team were to reduce their roster to a similar size to the Season 35 Reign, the motivation behind that would be to start a rebuild, which is a situation that doesn’t benefit from acquiring a player that is just two seasons from retirement.

One person who will be breathing a huge sigh of relief is VHL Commissioner Victor Alfredsson, as he was very fearful at the prospect of Encarnacion potentially making a lasting mark on the VHL by breaking career records that have stood for many seasons.

Here's hoping this is what happens to Encarnacion

We caught up with Alfredsson and asked for his thoughts on the situation:

“Oh my god, you don’t know how fucking relieved I am that this god damn piece of shit hockey player is out of work! I’ve seen some shit guys enter this fucking league, but god almighty this guy was like a shit within a shit, he was that bad! It got to the point where this off-season, we had to figure out what we were going to do to prevent Encarnacion from breaking these records; bringing bent referees in, deliberately altering statistics, setting fire to Encarnacion, these were all things we were thinking about. I mean we’d settled on burning Encarnacion but since he’s unemployed now we won’t need to bother, which is good and bad really. Good in that I don’t think we actually had it in our budget to afford a flamethrower but bad because I really just wanted to see that fucker burn. Actually, we have his home address, so we can still go over there and do it. Yeah, let’s do that”

Content: 3/3 Edwin seems pretty dead set on enjoying just being an FA. I can appreciate his chase at his need of hits and such, but what good is that if he isn't on a team? He won't get anymore and hitting becomes a thing of the past.

Grammar: 2/2 Didn't see anything
