I recently watched a Conan O'Brien video where Triumph the Insult Comic Dog visited The Wieners Circle - a hot dog stand. What makes the place special? The staff and customers verbally abuse each other. People travel from far away to experience it. After seeing the video, I started to think whether something similar would work in VHL. Instead of the traditional "Welcome to the league, let me know if you need any help" - messages, new users and recently created new players would be welcomed with messages where their players and profiles are roasted: "Hey, nice name, did your mom come up with it?", or "Oh, you created another winger, very creative. NOT!", or "You will be in VHLE forever".

The main benefit for the users is the sensation and feeling they have now entered a place that is a little different; the users feel they have been noticed and welcomed by the members of the community in a cool, fun, and unique way. Now when they read the "Welcome" - messages, the users get a feeling similar to the feeling ladies get in dating apps when they read messages from guys that say: "Hey, beautiful, how are you today?", or "I like wine too, LOL". The ladies are bored by those types of messages and eventually start to ignore the guys completely.  The same is true in VHL now as pretty much nobody bothers to reply back or react in any way to the "Welcome" - messages.

Being thirsty needs to stop, it is predictable. We need to add an element of shock and mystery to VHL. Nothing makes a new user want to stop and learn more about VHL than tasting a vibe that says: "We don't want you here". The roasts capture the new users by surprise, a solid roast is something that sticks with you for a while. The recreating users might feel they need to prove something if they got roasted properlyIcing on the cakeit will be exciting to see different ways the users were roasted today. When was the last time you were shocked or surprised? When was the last time you were forced to be uncomfortable? When was the last time you went to check the forums for something outside of the sims? That is what the roasting brings to the league.

To make sure the roasts are fresh and steadily coming, I think VHL users should be allowed to claim TPE for their roasts. I am thinking 1 roast is worth 1 TPE as long as the quality of the roast is shockingly bad or good, but never neutral. Each user could claim up to 5 TPE worth of roasts per week. If the users post something that leads them to be banned - the user's name will be written on the wall of the "Recruitment crew" - office, a badge of honor.

In short, I strongly believe insulting the new users and recently created new players is a good look for the VHL and brings a lot of fun to the VHL.
